Why did Novak refer to Valerie Wilson as "Plame?"
The memo in the Washington Post story by Pincus and Vanderhei refers to Valerie Wilson as "Valerie Wilson." That was the name she used since her marriage to Joseph Wilson in 1998.

Was Plame the name she used as an agent?

3. Do we know for a fact?
Because that would make it even more unlikely that anyone outside the government (like a reporter :eyes: ) knew she was covert.

2. Plame was her 'undercover name' (and her maiden name)
She worked at Brewster Jennings under the name 'Valerie Plame', so that's the one foreign intelligence agencies would need to run association searches on. If he'd just said, 'Valerie Wilson', it wouldn't have helped the North Koreans and the Saudis nearly as much. I'm sure they appreciated it.

4. Exactly.
I'm sure reporters are up on the names covert agents use in their undercover front organizations. I'm sure Novak must have learned that was what ol' Val went by while schmoozing and boozing in Georgetown. :sarcasm:

5. WHAT did Novak know and WHEN did he know about...
Mrs. Wilson's maiden name? I'm sure Fitzgerald knows.

7. Here's another one: If Novak used her maiden name, as some have argued
because he found it in "Who's Who?" and to distinguish her from Wilson's previous wife (or wives?), why didn't he use the standard, "Wilson nee Plame" or "the former Valerie Plame?" Why would a conservative fart like Novak assume she used her own name?
