I posted a much longer rant on this subject the other night, on another board. I said I no longer thought these guys were brilliant manipulators of the press. For that to be the case, it would require an independent press to "manipulate." And that, indeed, would take some amount of brilliance. But, with the current corporate structure at BushCo, manipulating the media simply means sending the memo or blast-fax down the chain of command. That's not brilliance. It's just business.

And isn't that exactly what W promised us? That he'd run America like a business?
