There are a number of public facilities around the country with Corporate names. Enron Field, remember that one?

Not only that, but our federal government is increasingly run by private corporations. I just switched from an LBN thread about 2500 FAA jobs being outsourced to Lockheed.

Look how much of our military "presence" in Iraq is actually done by private corporations (Halliburton, KBR, DynCorp and many others) -- at no doubt bigger cost and/or poorer quality.

That's one definition of fascism: the convergence of intersts between corporations and government, or as Mussolini put it: Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.

matter more to politicians than the will of the constituents, I'd say we're already at this point. They've just managed to maintain a modicum of decency and keep the commercialization out of the process.

At least in a national campaign. Imagine "This war brought to you by George Bush AND YOUR LOCAL PEPSI COLA BOTTLERS." And if Bush campaigned with a Ford logo on his shirt pocket he'd probably be kissing any significant GM money goodbye.
