Heard Chalmers Johnson on the radio today. Is he as brilliant
as he sounds (except for that nervous laugh)? Plan to get his book, anyone read it? Sounds depressing.

He said the U.S. thought it had "won" the Cold War, when really it just didn't lose as badly as the U.S.S.R. did. Immediately, I thought "well of course, how did something so obvious elude me?"

1. He's a bright guy...
... with an especially wide background in US-Asian relations.

Of which book are you speaking? He's had two out recently. Blowback and The Sorrows of Empire. I've read the latter, but not the former. The Sorrows of Empire is excellent.

Cheers.

2. I've seen him interviewed at length.
Too bad his books are not more widely read. He is truly brilliant. Surprise is that he was a conservative. But he understands truth.

7. When you write a post...
... look on the post page for the link "HTML lookup table." That will show you how to do alternate characters, such italics, bold, underlined, etc.

For the most part, it's like standard HTML, except that the text instructions are within brackets, rather than within arrows.

Cheers.

3. His books are great. You should read
"The Sorrows of Empire" if you haven't already. The comparisons between the US and the Roman Empire are quite prescient.
