Out of the mouth of Bush
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/08/02/politics/main633403.shtml

I have no idea whether we'll find out who the leaker is," the president told reporters. "Partially because, in all due respect to your profession, you do a very good job of protecting the leakers."

Sometimes the best laid plans go awry..oh and Judy Miller your president thanks you.

1. He was so cocky and smug. I am positive he knew all along. Just
thought his "brain" was too smart to get caught. Well Rove met his match it appears.

3. If he had wanted to get to the truth, with his ego, smugness,...
He would have surely said, "we will get to the bottom of this".
Obviously, he knew who it was, and knew he wouldn't get caught.

2. ...a tale told by an idiot...signifying nothing.....
That answer made no sense then, and it still doesn't. Since the leakers were already identified as two senior WH officials, regardless of whether reporters clammed up on who their sources were or not, Bush would not have been asking them, he would have been asking his senior WH officials directly about their possible involvement.

It would have been nice if a reporter had pointed that out to him when he smirked his way through that.

Of course, no doubt he already knew he was lying through his teeth. As usual.
