Just positing the fact that, AT SOME POINT, nixon could not get away with anything!!!

Let alone getting a Supreme Court Justice through.

Just wondering if we play the Rove\Plame\Libby\Cheney\AF1\... right, we may sit better in a SCOTUS proceeding!

1. Harry Blackmun was ole number three--the third nominee

May 1969 - Nixon nominated Clement Haynsworth, Jr. which the Senate rejected 55 to 45. Nixon then nominated G. Harrold Carswell who also was rejected by the Senate.

Harry Blackmun - the author of the Roe v. Wade decision was ole number three.

The next old number three was a Reagan appointee - Anthony Kennedy
Reagan nominated Bork, then Ginsberg, then Kennedy.

When his own party stood up to him... I think!

3. when Republican senators and reps starting coming out . . .

in favor of impeachment . . . once the leadership of his own party turned against him, he was toast . . .

but those were vastly different times . . . times when a good portion of Republican senators and reps actually had integrity and, when the chips were down, were willing to put aside their own interests and those of the corporate oligarchy and do the right thing for the nation and its people . . .

sadly, that's not the case today . . .
