I don't think they are all that stupid, however. Some of them really are partisan enough to be willing to turn a blind eye to this, even if they suspect that there is truth to it. That's what scares me, stupidity I can excuse to an extent. To deny something with these implications, just for the good of your "party", that I cannot excuse.
