Cheney heads fundraiser, but it's not open to public

Vice President Dick Cheney is coming to Minnesota on Friday to raise money for the Senate campaign of Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn. The event will take place at the Wayzata home of former state GOP chairman Bill Cooper and will not be open to the public. Couples paying $4,200 can get their picture taken with Cheney and admission to the reception; luncheon-only tickets cost $1,000 a person. Kennedy faces no major opposition in the Republican primary to replace U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., who is not seeking reelection. "Congressman Kennedy has been an important member of the House, and we look forward to working with him in the Senate," said Jennifer Mayfield, a Cheney spokeswoman.
