The only excuse for not knowing that before the last election is relying on the corporate media -- and that's no excuse.

54. Because they stole the election.
It gets more and more obvious every day. All the polls bear out the fact that people prefer John Kerry's policies to *'s. Some of those who believed the lies are now realizing what happened. The rest of us, the majority, knew all along.

66. WS - If the votes are in a Microsoft Access Database
someone can just as easily change a 10 to a 1,000,000 as they can change a 10 to a 1,000. Really. Software installed on the Central Tabulator PC's could have been programmed to make sure that the candidate 'of choice' had 51% of the vote or 53% or 59% or 65%. Such software is very, very easy to write. A hand full of people who want to steal a national election, and have access to the computer systems could do so.

We must get beyond thinking that the only reason we must recount is if the margin is close. We have to have voter verified paper ballots and we have to recount every election by hand.

76. You're looking for someone to argue with over that?
Keep looking.

My point was simply (except for the typo), it shouldn't have been close enough to steal. If you'll notice, the main topic of this thread is not whether or not the election was stolen or election reform -- it's about *'s recently sinking approval.

77. Bless you. No, I wasn't looking for an argument.
I'm really not into arguing. Just exchange of information and occasionally influencing another's opinion by expressing a point of view they may not have considered before.

My point was that even if 60% or 70% of voters cast their votes for Kerry - the Republicans still could have stolen the election. Current technology makes it feasible.

79. Jeez, what is it with you guys?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question, so I'm not going to even attempt to answer it.

Yes, the 2000 election was stolen, and yes, I'm very suspicious of the 2004 results and would LOVE to see it proved that it was stolen, too. Okay? Are you satisfied with that?

What I SAID was (except for the typo), it shouldn't have been close enough to steal. Why wasn't * at least 10 or 15 points behind in polling before the last election, which I do believe would have made it impossible to steal without getting caught? My implied point, with respect the topic here -- i.e. *'s falling approval rating -- is, why is America just now getting wise? The answer, of course, is the corporate media, which is the same thing that made 2000 close enough to steal.

80. Thanks for the explanation...and sorry if I appeared to jump on you.
I so hate what is happening to this country, and it's not just the War. It's the lies, the lack of trust, the mounting cynicism, the Rove/Plamegate and their total denial of major elephants in the room and naked emperors, and, you're right; the corporate media's selling this evil administration.

Kerry should have been ahead 10 to 15 points if he had been given the same favorable coverage by our so-called liberal press, and if they had disclosed all of B*'s records, and Rove's history of tricks so dirty that they would have made any "Christian" blush with shame to even think about.

"My implied point, with respect the topic here -- i.e. *'s falling approval rating -- is, why is America just now getting wise? The answer, of course, is the corporate media, which is the same thing that made 2000 close enough to steal."

Why do you think that CM is now supportive of B* falling approval rates? They've made enough profits on an unjust war? I think that America is waking up; certainly hope so.

33. It's strange ....
Now, again, I do not mean to speak in a positive tone about Nixon, but he was far, far more disciplined of a thinker than Bush; he had a grasp of the political system, including its strengths and weaknesses, that Bush definitely lacks. He had survival skills. But the pressure was way too much.

Being detached and willfully dull witted may have some built-in advantages. But the pressure is obviously real for him. I'm convinced that in times of stress, the true essence of one's personality bubbles through. Thus, at some point in August, he is likely to go off the script. And it will stun much of America to see who is really president.

70. Well
I am not a MIHOP subscriber, though not because I think the jackals in high places are too moral to do such a thing. And I remember quite well the amount of anxiety that even Nixon caused among certain groups, because no one knew what he might do. No one really knew, and that isn't a joke.

What is happening in the media is nothing compared to what is happening behind the scenes. Power concedes nothing without a struggle, as Frederick Douglas noted.

17. This is actually an improvement for * on the recent Harris poll
Sixty-four percent of those polled gave Bush a negative rating for his handling of Iraq, up from 61 percent in May, while 34 percent had a positive assessment of Bush's actions in Iraq, Harris Interactive said in a statement distributed by PR Newswire. A year ago, 58 percent of Americans gave Bush a negative rating on Iraq, Harris Interactive said.

Less than a quarter of those polled, 23 percent, said they were confident the U.S. policies in Iraq would be successful, down from 26 percent in May, according to the poll. Last month, Bush's job approval rating was 45 percent, up from 44 percent in April and down from 50 percent a year earlier, according to the earlier poll on the Harris Interactive Web site.

Of those surveyed this month, 38 percent said invading Iraq was the right decision, down from 39 percent in May and 43 percent a year earlier, according to Harris.

The online poll of 2,339 adults was conducted July 12-18 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

56. His plan is: "Others than me, myself and my pal$ here...
... are fighting (and we even cut all their benefits) the (bad) terra-lists there (which is illegal... again) so me, myself and my criminal pal$ don't have to run like hell for cover (like the little cowards we really are, and always been) here all the time because 'our' "others" don't have to fight them here.

** voters = about 25% of the country??

44. I'd like to see
some follow up research on the "clear plan" question. How many of those 27% that answered "has a clear plan", how many could say what that plan is, how many different answers would there be?

I mean, if the plan was clear, then all those people would be able to answer, and they would all give the same answer, right?

45. LOL
As greekspeak says above, there IS NO plan. According to Shrub there is no plan.

These people simply always pick answers that seem sympathetic to Bush. Hence the term "Bushbots".

47. Whatever happened to the Popular Wartime President?
The one that the media worshiped? The one we could not question? God's own? Whatever it takes. Mission accomplished. Dead or alive... ah those were the days... 'Merica riding tall.... sigh.

67. Yep! This, even after the attacks in London.
I thought that would spike his numbers for sure, but I guess not.

49. I kind of understand the "unsures", it's the "approves" I don't
I mean, if the unsures were Bush voters and hear from George that things are going well yet read otherwise and all that and aren't so sure they trust the dipshit anymore, I can kind of understand being confused.

It is the "approves" I don't understand. Are they living in La-La Land?

I know how I feel.

68. if it keeps up in this direction
2006 may be a great year for us.

but Dem Senators need to start raising more issues about the war -coming up with answers.
I saw a great speech by Joe Biden the other day, where he outlined what changes needed to be made.

Dems need to do more of this, trying to get bills past concerning the war/veterans affairs and forcing the Repubs to stonewall to try and keep up this everything-is-going-fine bit, so we can clobber them with it in 2006.

71. The really pathetic thing
Is that 27% think that Bush has a clear plan, when he has publically denounced the idea of providing any details of any sort of plan to Congress.
