"I wouldn't pardon somebody who's not been indicted" - *
January 2001

Asked if he plans to pardon President Clinton after he's sworn in as his successor. "No, I wouldn't pardon somebody who's not been indicted," Mr. Bush told reporters...

Just a reminder - in case * decides to pardon Rove, Libby, etc BEFORE the indictments - not that I expect him to keep to his word.

I do expect that there will be pardons before a trial - just to derail that bit of humiliation.

1. Read it closely.
His double negative = a positive. i.e., he *would* pardon someone who's been indicted.

He probably meant it all along.

2. My point is: If Bush pre-emptively pardons Rove etc.
before they have been indicted, he's flip-flopped.

I'm sure he will pardon everyone involved, but will he wait for indictments?

3. Didn't his Daddy pardon people who weren't indicted?
Or had they all been nailed?
