16. I was for 3 Years, then quit

I quit for one reason. The only time I ever heard from them was when they wanted me to renew my membership. If they have some sort of newsletter I never saw it. To be dead honest about it I felt I wasn't getting shit for my money - and if I was they certainly weren't telling me about it. So I quit sending them the cash and tossed my card.

17. Back in NJ (2002-03), I got the state ACLU newsletter as part

of my ACLU membership. I don't know how that happened.

Personally, I'd prefer that they spend the entirety of my annual dues fighting for free speech. I don't need the chachkas, a newsletter or a bumper sticker. I prefer to read news reports on what they're doing and where. That's how I know my donation is being well spent.

Whoops, that's not exactly true. I got a card.

Now shit, all I wanted to see was a little page newsletter or something just telling me what major concerns they were addressing and maybe any successes or failures they had seen in the last month. Shit, newsprint would have been fine. Just as long as it was something that wasn't rooting for more money.
