The balance of power has shifted from the West to the East.
<snip>

From this point forward, the United States Federal Reserve no longer matters. The balance of power has shifted from the West to the East. We are now all tied in someway to the Peoples Bank of China, and just have not got our new ATM cards yet! Maybe they are in the mail, maybe not. Maybe the home equity ATM machine is now closed. And, certain commodities, appear to no longer be “free” markets.

1. What balance
When you say "balance of power", i think "What does he mean by power?"
If it is womens rights, then the balance remains firmly in the western
nations. China and the "east" are still killing female babies because
they are percieved inferior.

So you must mean military power. But this is as well clearly in the
hands of the most ruthless terrorists with the most lethal weaponry, and
again i wind up at SAC headquarters in the west.

So you must mean economic power. But this is based on individual human
beings and spread evenly amongst 6 billion denizens of the earth hell...
and neither east nor west.

So Balance must be in terms of moral authority. Yet, here, the only
authority is with those who are truly morally superior.... and these
persons are not in political power in the east or the west... so that
leaves us with propaganda.

And in a propaganda sense, the west has lost its edge, i agree.

2. He means economic power
The author of the linked piece claims that the Chinese were able to manipulate the bond market closely enough to spell out a message based on the number of days between highs, lows, and other events.

4. If you grab a dangerous dog by the tail
You might think you've got the dog under control. After all, the tail
is part of the dog, and everyone knows that the tail wags the dog.

But then you realize that the dog has teeth, and that controlling the
tail, for all its propaganda value, has naught to do with the head.

China controls dick. It is an emerging economy exporting its way to
health on the goodwill of those who believe in human equality and
justice. Salomon brothers once manipulated the bond market and look
where it got them... any Good friend will tell you... ;-)

3. And it's going to get worse than that when China announces to
us that their "communications" satellites are armed with nuclear missiles, that they are aimed at 20 cities in the U.S. and that there is nothing we can do to stop the simultaneous launching of 1,000 missiles, aimed at 20 cities. The will send surrender instructions in one hour.

How could that pull that off? Because their leaders are just as mean as ours but are not relying on superstition for the support base.

5. china
china is the silent giant and we have known this for years. I find it interesting that we have some competition and will have to use more checks and balances rather than our bull headed behavior.
