Tim Russert flashed a Bush-pin to Bush in 2000,
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 08:31 PM by Eric J in MN
at the Alfred E. Smith Dinner.

Gore saw.

Anthony Lappe, Executive Editor at the Guerilla News Network, GNN said Al Gore told him this.

Anthony is on "Majority Report" on Air America Radio tonight, with Janeane Garofalo.

Anthonly said this has been discussed at "Democratic Underground."

Tim Russert is the host of "Meet the Press" on broadcast NBC, and "Tim Russert" on cable's CNBC.

2. it was obvious russert's bias at the time
when he interviewed * verses when he interviewed Gore

Before this is over, these reports will even be held in a lower self-esteem than they are now

hopefully, we can get some of them fired and in the bread lines

22. Wonder what his bias will be now. Didn't Rove or Libby lie and say they
heard about Valerie Plame from Russert, he denies it, but maybe he is pissed that they are trying to pin something on him. One can only hope. He did ask Mehlman some pointed questions the other day, perhaps he realizes he's been had and they are trying to Rather him up.

30. yes he did
I was referring to 2000 where he asked softball questions to bush, and tried to tear Gore apart with every question

I don't believe he is reformed, but probably is pissed, and whether they want to or NOT they cannot ignore what is happening

You can probably find tonight's "Majority Report" archived somewhere in a couple of days.

I don't have a link to the DU discussion.

16. I only heard the end of it - that GE Jack gave Russert a huge raise after
2000 and Russert got plum interviews.

So thanks everyone for the fill-in.

When they write the book about the theft of our votes in 2000, 2002, 2004 and in various local elections, that they put Russert's face on the cover and quote some of his hypocritical thoughts.

All our stolen money goes to greasin' the wheel of lies, theft, death and loss of rights by these people.

9. That liberal press of ours!
Of course they can vote for whomever they want. But from O'Rielly (Mr. independent-ha ha) to Chris "I was in the peace corp and worked for Dems but know I'm a whore for fascist thugs" Matthews has stated openly that he voted for Bush in 2000 on his show.

I used to watch CNN. There was this show that had ACTUAL CITIZENS asking questions and talking..not just media whores..often it was light stuff but not always. Talk Back Live it was called. It was taken off the air right before the Iraq war-and has never been seen since.

Which reminds me the one REALLY liberal dude-Donaghue was taken of MSNBC (days before the war). Of course there is the one and only shinning light we have-Keith Olbermann. If he goes..head for Canada.

11. Don't forget that actor on MSNBC who was a liberal...
Charles somebody....

CNN changed when Time/Warner forced out Ted Turner.

Russert and Mathews have been bought and paid for. $$$$ means more to them than principle or dignity.

http://www.makethemaccountable.com/coverup/Part_04.htm

In private, Welch was proud to have personally cultivated Tim Russert from a “lefty” to a responsible representative of GE interests. Welch sincerely believed that all liberals were phonies. He took great pleasure in “buying their leftist souls”, watching in satisfaction as former Democrats like Russert and MSNBC’s Chris Matthews eagerly discarded the baggage of their former progressive beliefs in exchange for cold hard GE cash. Russert was now an especially obedient and model employee in whom the company could take pride.

''It's a double-edged sword to be under Jack's detailed look,'' one GE executive told Fortune Magazine. ''If you do well, it's great. If you don't, it's bad news.”

It was bad news for NBC correspondent Claire Shipman, who made the mistake of offering a positive opinion of Al Gore on the air. Jack Welch, chairman and chief executive officer of a $350 billion conglomerate, responsible for overseeing the highly diversified activities of hundreds of thousands of employees working in over one hundred countries, was so incensed by her disobedience that he took time out of his busy schedule to personally confront her about it.

She no longer works for NBC. And her managing editor, Tom Brokaw, did not stand up for her right to journalistic independence from the corporate lord.

That link sums it all up..you would have to be a phoney liberal to puddle the sludge these guys do day after day. I was a news junkie and since 11/2 the only one I watch is Olbermann. The propaganda was so thick it made me ill.

I have turned off the tube entirely since 11/2004. Only turn it on to watch the occasional hearing on C-span, a few sporting events or The Daily Show.

15. Russert's On Our Side?
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 09:15 PM by KharmaTrain
And pigs fly.

This dude all but tried to bury Joe Wilson several times and downplay this scandal as being a partisan game. Most Sundays his little TV show is a commercial for the RNC with the toughest questions always going to Democrats...and where a Repugnican lie not only takes root but "becomes legitimate".

The corporate media already has a lot to explain...and those who have sold out will pay the most for it.

Take a look at his guest list over the last 5 years.

With the rare exception, nothing left of Biden (and 99% of the time it was Biden).

25. He Had Howard Dean On For Comic Relief
Yep...Joe's the "go-to" Dem on a lot of these shows, and silly Joe thinks he's not only speaking for the party but thinks he really stands a chance of being a serious nominee?

The only other Democrats you saw were set up to be pinatas...Timmy with those always ready (and taken out of context) quotes...all set for that "gotcha".

Of course this rule only applies to Democrats as Russert, if he tries that crap with a Repugnican, will always come up with a quote afterwards to give them an out.

One of the worst examples last Sunday was when Russert asks the simple question of Weaseldick Mehlmann if he'll cooperate with Fitzgerald should there be an indictment. Mehlmann, as expected, shucked and jive...Timmy just letting him get his talking points in. It was John Podesta (better than Biden, but not by much) who sayd "Just say Yes".

Incredible these whores can sleep at night knowing what they've brought to this country.

Rove and Libby are saying that they heard the Great Leak from Cooper and Russert.

But Cooper and Russert say 'not so'.

Russert now knows from personal experience that Libby is a liar.

23. Why would a journalist do something like that?
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 09:45 PM by SeveneightyWhoa
And I mean ANY journalist--I couldn't see a Fox anchor doing such a thing. And Russert has a reputation to uphold, so I can't see him putting himself in this position.

I mean, what's the point of wearing such a button if you're, at the same time, trying to hide it from view? It kind of defeats the purpose of wearing the thing. I actually have a hard time believing this.

27. Pretty sure Russert is a lawyer
Has any one else noticed that the majority of these talking heads who read the news scripts are are lawyer's. Russert, Nancy Grace, etc., etc.

Apparently they were not competant enough for this profession or they couldn't collect the payola that they are now getting for entertainment news.

This may be why they are unable to actually listen to both sides and interview their guests with the purpose of getting facts and truth.

Attorneys always have to take one side and play to win for the side they represent......it sure looks like they have chosen the CON side to defend, no matter what the truth.
