Waxman Puts Spotlight on Guckert/Gannon - Rove/Plame Connection
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 10:19 PM by Hissyspit
Rep. Waxman has put Guckert/Gannon back in the spotlight, in a sense, after the hearings today. He has published "11 Security Breaches in Plame Case" at yubanet.com, the contents of which I previously posted in this thread here.

Guckert is security breach #10 on Waxman's list (Thanks to Nothing_Without_Hope for highlighting this.):

10. The Disclosure by an Unidentified Source to James Guckert of Talon News
On October 28, 2003, Talon News posted on its website an interview with Ambassador Joseph Wilson in which the questioner asked: "An internal government memo prepared by U.S. intelligence personnel details a meeting in early 2002 where your wife, a member of the agency or clandestine service working on Iraqi weapons issues, suggested that you could be sent to investigate the reports. Do you dispute that?" Talon News is tied to a group called GOP USA and is operated by Texas Republican Robert Eberle. Its only reporter, James Guckert (also known as Jeff Gannon), resigned when it was revealed that he gained access to the White House using a false name after his press credentials were rejected by House and Senate press galleries. In a March 2004 interview with his own news service, Mr. Guckert stated that the classified document was "easily accessible." In a February 11, 2005, interview with Wolf Blitzer of CNN, Mr. Guckert said the FBI interviewed him about "how I knew or received a copy of a confidential CIA memo," but he refused to answer FBI questions because of his status as a "journalist." A week later, Mr. Guckert changed his account, claiming he "was given no special information by the White House or by anybody else."

8. One of the CIA guys today said even John McCain has shown zero integrity.

McCain defended Rove and attacked DEMs on Tweety of somesuch.

I've talked with Marcinkowski, from his days when he was an assistant prosecutor in Oakland County, Michigan. He's a heck of a fellow.

9. I watched that DISGUSTING McCain Faultier All Over his Lying Self
last night... He looked like he needed to change during those wiggle-bull crap answers. Another soul given to the GOP.

Can't figure-out how the other side just does not get-it! Frankly, I no longer waste braincells trying to figure them out.

11. I'm still waiting for his apology for his Time 9/11anniversary guest piece
in which he argued why we absolutely had to invade Iraq.

4. I'd like to see this circle closed at last - the whole "Gannon" scandal
was left hanging, ultimately allowed to fade to silence by the Poodle Press. No wonder the WH wanted this under wraps! This little string leads into their maze of secrets.

Recommended. Let's see if the "real" journalists defend JimmyJeff as one of their own. Would be nice to see him subpoenaed and pinned.

6. That's a classic theme in history - as I read it
It's not the official and orchestrated actions of a regime that bring it down so often as some little "personal" thing that lights the way to much more.

Something like, oh...I dunno....spilling some very important secrets of the Empire to your gay-male prostitute lover during the warm afterglow of a night of torrid but secretive sex.

Or whatever.

Just surmising.

10. In some ways, he IS one of their own...
if they think Judith Miller is one of their own.
She should have been fired as a journalist a long time ago.

I'm still very curious about all of this as well. Why was Gannon or whatever at the White House when there was no press events going on? Why was he there on election night? What was he up to while he was there and not in the press room giving Scotty BS question's? How did he get invited to White House INVIATION ONLY parties??? Who did he know that could get him through and get him through the Secret Service? (I'm thinking Karl Rove or someone who had more clearance or Karl Rove blackmailed maybe the person who did give clearance)

15. I don't know how this escaped me before. I've developed a little rule
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 11:02 AM by Peace Patriot
about Bushites (akin to my old rule about TV commercials): Whatever they are saying, think just the opposite, and you will be close to the truth, if not spot on. (F.i., if a TV ad shows a new vehicle they are trying to sell tearing up a forest floor or a beach, or zipping along all alone up Pacific Coast Highway, meaning vehicle = nature, freedom, individualism, then the opposite is true, vehicle = kill nature, kill freedom, kill individualism. Like that.) Anyway, when the Bush Cartel started targeting gays and using the gay marriage issue to stir up hatred and bigotry, even though I knew about Gannon, I failed to apply the rule: If they're trying to stir up hatred of gays then they ARE gay.

I suppose gays know this from way back--re closet gays and hypocrisy. I just didn't get it. My rule failed me. THEY'RE ALL GAY. The whole bunch of them. Bush, Cheney, Libby, Rove. And, like the Calvinist preacher who rises from the prostitute's bed on Saturday night, to rail against "the whore of Babylon" on Sunday morning, their utter hypocrisy can be detected by what they condemn others for!

A good working hypothesis anyway.

(As for Gannon and Treasongate, somebody needs to find out if he was on AF-I on July 5-12, 2003, when they all went to Africa. That's where a number of serious crimes were committed. I don't know the timeline for his WH activities.)

I wonder if Fitzgerald checked Ari's phone records and found a call to Gannon/Guckert.

18. Jimmy/Jeff sleeps with "someone".
"Someone" slips and gives him info. "Someone" asks Jimmyjeff what he wants to keep quiet. Jimmyjeff says, "I always wanted to be a reporter, yeah, that's it, a White House reporter, yeah, with access to everyone anytime. OKYDOKY, "someone"? Okydoky, Jimmyjeff.
