Has Dubya Made The World More Safe?
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 12:51 PM by TDubyaA

... for OSAMA?

(edited and clarified, I hope)

Nearly half believe the United States is "less safe" from terrorist attack because of the military actions in Iraq, according to the latest survey of 1,016 adults ages 18 and older conducted by the Scripps Survey Research Center at Ohio University.

Fifty-one percent of the survey participants said they disapprove of the job Bush has done as president, while 44 percent approved and 5 percent were undecided. But his disapproval ranking rose to 54 percent when people were asked to specifically rate his handling of Iraq.

The recent terrorist bombings in London did not give Bush a "rally effect" — a tendency of Americans to rally in support of the current White House administration in times of national emergencies. His approval ratings were well above 80 percent immediately after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks four years ago.

New Gallup poll: U.S. is less safe because of Iraq war
by Plutonium Page

A new Gallup/USA Today/CNN poll out shows that the number of people in the U.S. who think there is a greater chance of terrorism, thanks to the Iraq war, has increased.

3. NOt only has this moron made us less safe
by the unprovoked, unnecessary blitzkrieg on Iraq, but he has polarized the US to an extent not seen since the late '60s-early '70s. Maybe more.

4. Well, a whole lot more of us are dead because of Bu*h. And dead people
are pretty safe; so I guess if you look at it that way....

Otherwise no, those of us he hasn't killed yet are in constant danger from mistakes made by Commander Cuckoobananas.

5. The huge increase in major terrorists attacks
From 1 or 2 a year to now what is an everyday event, would indicate that Bu$h's policies are a miserable failure.

9. Gary Webb, Word Warrior
In September 1998, Esquire ran an article chronicling the sad saga of investigative journalist Gary Webb, who had uncovered a story of government skullduggery that proved to be too vast for his own good. Webb’s big story was a three-part series arguing that the CIA was complicit with right-wing Nicaraguan Contras as they sold the cocaine that accelerated the crack-cocaine epidemic. One of the subheadlines of the Esquire article was “A Good Man Destroyed.”

Six years later, on December 10, 2004, the 49-year-old Webb died by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

6. The answer is the opposite: far less safe
ShrubCo has done everything it can to make the world a more dangerous place. They circled the wagons, turned on age-old alliences, instituted a "my way or the highway" approach at home, destabilized the middle east, comprimised national security. As far as I can tell, there has been a deliberate move to create a more unstable world in need of constant war. Why? Their buddies line their pockets with money, while people everywhere are dying. What fine "right to lifers" Bushco consists of.

11. He has not but dont fool yourself a Dem president would also not
Safe, meaning safe from bombers? No way. Its just a matter of time and neither party can prevent it.

Airline security? Yes its somewhat safer but Bush didnt "make" us safe. He took actions that any President would have taken. Gore or Kerry would have done the same

Safe with regards to borders, trucks, cars, trains, boats, ports, mass transit??? No way...

To get "safe" we need to first have the endless conflct with Israel/Palestenians over

Next we need to win a hearts and minds war. Supporting dictators in the middle east does not endear ourself to the Muslim street

Next we need those nations to have some progress with their economies. Hope is the best weapon against the radicals.

the list can go on and on and on

13. So the question is, did Iraq make us safer?
In his best-selling book "America the Vulnerable: How Our Government Is Failing to Protect Us From Terrorism," Stephen Flynn, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and a former U.S. Coast Guard commander, argues essentially that Iraq was a "phony war" based on the president's oft-repeated assertion that America is "fighting the terrorists abroad so we don't have to face them at home."
