Bush Will Fire Rove

Contrary to popular belief, loyalty doesn't mean anything to Bush. He'll dump Rove as soon as the indictment comes in; he won't wait for a conviction. The firing will be hailed as "brilliant" and "risky" but it's inevitable.

Rove is a scapegoat because the war has gone badly. If the war were going well, we wouldn't be hearing anything of this. If a corporation experiences a bad year, the CEO has to report the actions he's taken to remedy the situation. Bush can't fire Rumsfeld, because that would acknowledge how badly the war has gone. Bush can't fire Cheney unless he agrees to quit under a cloud. That's unlikely.

There's no one else to fire. Unfortunately for Rove, he can't just walk away because he has committed a crime. Given the context, it's a small potatoes crime, but a crime nevertheless. The Bush administration never had much going for it. Bush will be remembered in history as a weakling and an opportunist. This narrative is already well underway.

They've already tried to make Tenent the scapegoat - I don't think it worked very well in the long run, because we're still in Iraq and it's still getting worse.

I agree that leaking the name of a spy is pretty serious business, but the context of the Plame outing is a war started on the basis of lies. Thousands of people have died as a result of Bush's bullshit. On a scale of horror from zero to ten, leaking the name of a spy rates about a two. This is the same administration that committed genocide in Fallujah.

Just read the different articles that have been published in the last two weeks. Sure, Rove is the most obvious, but there have been statements about difference in testimony between reporters and Scooter Libby, Fitz getting the phone records from AF1, the State Dept. memo with the stamp "S /NF". There's more to this mess than just Rove.

Have patience and wait to see whose in the net when it's pulled onboard!

Of course that "likability" was always a PR Firm construct.

However, a basic building block of BushCo's likability factor has been projecting the aura of infallibility; in fact that infallibility has been portrayed as Divine.

Rule #1 of BushCo is to NEVER admit a mistake. Rule #2 is that they invent their own reality and then rely on the smokescreens to pull everyone else along.

Rovegate threatens the very foundations that these corrupt and illegal squatters have based their coup upon.

If Bush fires Rove, then he will have to publicly admit a mistake for hiring a 'bad man.' That's against #1. If that 'bad man' becomes the central figure in exposing the 'phony' reasons for war, then that exposes #2.

Wherever they turn, BushCo is in a heap of trouble. But, I don't put anything past them....even very bad things.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything will happen to Rove. These people (and I use the term loosely) will continue to make their own rules, "fix the facts," prey on the ignorant, pad their own pockets and fight illegal wars on the backs of the poor all with a smirk on their faces and claiming that God is on their side. It makes me sick.
