What if Joe Wilson was setup ?

I have to toss these thoughts out there. No links yet, just some tin-foil ideas.

Is Fitzgerald fishing for perjury and maybe obstruction ... or something realy big ?

1. We know that Valerie Plame was working for the CIA's WMD Anti-proliferation Taskforce.

2. We suspect that Cheney/Haliburton has been responsible over the years for illegal weapons proliferation.

3. Perhaps Plame (and CIA) were probing the dirty deeds of Haliurton along with other nefarious under-ground arms dealers.

4. Cheney sends Wilson on the phoney Niger mission. Maybe he knew the identity of Valerie at that time and was testing their allegiance. However, Wilson chooses not to play ball this time and publishes his de-bunking article.

5. Cheney discovers (if not already known) the true identity of Wilson's wife and realzes that she cannot be trusted to cover for Haliburton. So he must neutralize the Anti-proliferation Taskforce by outing Plame and, subsequently, all of her contacts.

6. The Yellowcake incident was just a cover for the real reason to expose Plame, and Wilson's article just a convenient coincidence.

Justin does a good job. Looks like motive and opportunity are piling up in Cheney's corner. Also looks like the anti-proliferation taskforce was not the main issue here ... more like retribution for not playing the war game.
