"Must I paint you a picture?"
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 02:59 AM by fooj
http://www.rigorousintuition.blogspot.com/

<snip>

George Orwell wrote that "the nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them."

The images exist, and are as real as the torture they document. But since the government contends - and it must be with a delicious smirk - that their release would violate the Geneva Conventions, Americans may never see them.

<snip>

This is a must read! These people are evil. Plain evil.

Peace.

1. aaaiiieeeee!! killing me killing me killing me.... we *must* stop * them
 ! ! !!!! !!!

quoted on that blog, Rigorous Intuition:
>This is a weeping song
A song in which to weep
While all the men and women sleep - Nick Cave

quote from the blog:
"You see, it's quite simple really: it's the evidence of torture, not the torture itself - including, reportedly, child rape - that violates the prisoners' rights. It's their images which are protected by the Geneva Conventions. They themselves are not.

"...Such criminal contempt for law and common justice, such lunatic reasoning, suggests the question: Do they mean to drive every last, sane one of us mad?..."

yes

yes yes yes yes yes

10. You know- I've got some pretty strong feelings about this.
Those ratbastards can stall all they want...people KNOW what they are attempting to hide. This is no secret.

The bottom line is what is wrong is wrong. Period. No getting around it. I am so sick of their sanctimonious BS...lying bastards can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. They have put EVERY AMERICAN in jeopardy by their divisive, partisan bullshit and I've had just about enough. They (all repubs) must shoulder the responsibility of sitting back, DOING NOTHING, and silently watching as their party sold out to the imposters that run The White House. Our House. They are not fit to call themselves Americans, IMO. This isn't just about the politicians in DC. This is about Americans who aided and abetted these evil, maniacal monsters and I don't believe that their participation in all of this madness should bear no consequence. Actions have consequences. Every spineless repub in this country owns this bullshit. That's right. Ownership. They OWN this EVIL. Now what are THEY going to do about it?

Peace.

23. i see that you do. i understand and agree. so, what do we do?
i feel you are absolutely right that "They OWN it."

but they who are doing, and/or supporting, these crimes against humanity can not grasp what they are doing. ignorance, brainwashing, xenophobia, whatever of the many reasons that they can't, they just can not grasp the atrocity.

i noticed down this thread, someone asked, "what next?" i presume meaning, what do we do next?

this is urgent. not only can we not allow these demented, grotesque, vulgar atrocities to be done in our names, we are also, as you said, being more endangered by them every day that we don't stop them.

i recently read an editorial - to long to post, for now - asking if we are "too craven" - too cowardly - to do what it will take to stop these crimes.
good question, yes?

is that it? or are we too lazy.....

more, i think, we progressive dems are too traumatized, stunned, by the shocking turns we have witnessed, suffered - that they keep throwing at us, more every day! - in this new, deranged sociopolitical climate.

i mean, so few people have been turning out for actions like demonstrations, anymore. that drop is not because we care less.

what to do?!

i am interested what you, and others here, think about this. you clearly care intensely, as do most here.

peace!

24. it's true that it is organized crime. RICO sounds like a good idea, imho.
but we can not wait till after the 2006 election. we also can not strategize under an assumption that cons will lose any of their stolen power in that election.

this country is not waking up about electronic voting, nor does mainstream media show any signs of conscience on that.

so, will you tell me more about using RICO?

peace!

13. The apologists for the reich-wing will try to say
that such treatment is necessary. The people in these prisons are hard-core criminals. They are dangerous men and women who, if let go, would resume the terrorist activities they had been engaged in prior to their arrests. One detainee who was released was supposed to be among those on the planes on 9/11 but he was stopped by security in the airport, blah blah blah.

I wonder what that little girl's crime was, and what she did to justify being beaten by all of those men.

They must be held accountable, as well.

16. The tactics used on the detainees are not just to get info.
As a minimum when they are released and go back to their homes, the stories (if they tell them) become weapons to intimidate the remaining population.

Those with the most embarassing experiences are likely to be recruited as snitches, moles, fifth columnists etc. as in you really need to consider working for the US or some of those pictures might get out for your friends, family and children to see.

This behavior is a policy. I do not excuse individuals who did this but this is calculated policy. These aren't policies to defend a Republic - these are policies to control an empire's territories.

18. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The torture, the rapes, are not about gaining information. They are about proving their power and control over the victims. The torture and rapes are sadistic and cruel and that this admin gave its blessings on the torture is enough to bring them up on charges of war crimes.

The fact that the MSM failes to report these atrocities makes them co-conspirators in the crime and they are just as guilty as the admin.

 Not in my name!
