Diane Feinstein: Neocon-Enabling War Criminal
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 12:57 PM by Stevendsmith
Did any one see this piece of human garbage soft-peddle Traitorgate and nod her way through Pat Roberts' GOP talking points recital on Blizter's propaganda broadcast this morning?

I'll give her one thing: She's got Joementum

And don't forget, she's seen the Abu Ghraib child rape photos, but she's mum-like the rest of her petrified Senate colleagues.

7. Sure you can be not cautious and say there are too many liberal judges
like Byrd did.

Even if I find Feinstein's position distateful, it is still better than Byrd's. We know where he stands on this one.

9. There may be a very good reason for this "silence".
It is possible that these photos are of children. The reaction is going to be appalling. Just like "Newsweek" the Dems could be blamed. Totally twisted but that is the reality.

11. How about we not hand wring over Dems looking bad?
How about we focus on putting a stop to the atrocities - that being the sodomizing of children.

18. Some issues rise above Party
Seymour Hersh said he saw the videos of little boys being sodomized by guards. Am I remembering that right? If Seymour is telling the truth, and I don't doubt him, then there's nothing to disucss but how to put an end to it. Party be damned.

17. And supposing there are bombings in New York as a result?
Supposing, in revenge, some American kids suffer the same fate as these kids in Iraq? The Repuke media won't blame Bush. It will the Dems that will take the heat. I am no happier than you about this. But the question was what are the Dems so reluctant to come forward, and I am giving a possible reason.

24. We show our morality by putting an end to the child sodomy
Otherwise, our moral platform is totally rotten and we're at even greater risk. If the pictures are turned over, this administration will lose even more supporters on the right who espouse family values. Then we have an even better chance of prevailing in elections and in rebuilding support around the world.

42. You really believe that?
The rest of the world know about us already and don't get to vote. In fact there are many here who don't get to vote either. The so called "family values" are not about families or values. If you are relying on those peole this will be a long drought.

53. Do I really believe what?
If you mean doing something about the child abuse in the prisons - hell yes I do. And if it reflects some sort of moral stance - yes to that, too. And if it makes some dent in how the rest of world views us - yes to that as well.

26. Do me a favor and pick a copy of
Niemuller's Moral Man in an Amoral Society

That is the HUGE clue you need to get.

We are living in a amoral society... not unlike the one he lived in durng the 1930s before he moved... the years should be a clue to you

38. We don't live in the society we want, We live in the society we have.
After WW11 the Dems held power with an alliance of the liberal North and the racist South. This lasted until Johnson passed the anti-discrimination laws. Was it the moral thing to do? Of course. But it also got us Nixon, Reagan and Bush's 1 and 11. Who have dismantled many of these laws and are now going to dismantle the New Deal. The fact is this is not an "Amoral" country. It is largely an "Immoral" country. As any in the rest of the World, who know us best, will tell you. We have butchered people in a lot of countries. It sat by while astacked Supreme Court put an immoral cretin in power. It voted for the same guy over a genuine hero and decent man four years later. They were lied into a war and don't care.

The only way this will change is if the Dems get back into power. I am not saying the Dems are saints, but compared with what we have today? But Dean is right. We have to get a large number of people we wouldn't want to have dinner with to vote Democratic. And we are going to have to be very smart on how we do it.

Lets say you are correct, they decide to bomb us after the photos are releasded, that is a risk we need to take... it is the moral risk we need to take

On the other hand, they first came for the socialist and I did not speak, then they came for the Labor Organizers adn I did not speak, then they came for the Jews and I did not speak, and when they came for me nobody was left to speak for me.

50. What led to Nazi Germany was "morality"!
Pres. Wilson thought it "immoral" to force Germany into unconditional surrender during WW1. So there was an "armistice". But the French were "morally" outraged at the war crimes of the Germans (which were real) and demanded reparations. Well beyond the ability of Germany to pay. The Germans were "morally" outraged at the resulting destruction of their entire economy and their social structure. So they voted in the Nazis to restore their national "dignity". The result was a large number of Jewish refugees after WW11 was finally ended by dropping two atomic bombs on Japanese civilian populations. The "moral" solution for these Jewish refugees was to give them a country. Palestine. "Morality" like "religion" has a lot to answer for.

Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 03:33 PM by nadinbrzezinski
but if you don't want them to release the pictures because they just might lead to more bombings, I am sorry, I don't agree. Hannah Arendt and NIemuller are right, we do live in an amoral society and by your refusal to call them on it and force them to face up to what they have done, you enable them

As I said, my threshold is very low very low these days.

(on Edit, there is also the problem of the Palestianian Israeli problem, which at this point I fear is up to THEM to solve... for we have no moral authority to get involved anymore, see abu graib)

55. The thread was not about what I want.
It was about why the Democrats were not demanding the release of these photographs. I was trying to give a political rationale for their reluctance to do this. After all, look what happened to Sen. Durbin after he told the truth? Personally I think the media should demand the release, and keep the Dems out of it. But they have been burned with "Newsweek" too. I also find the use of the word "morality" in these issues a double edged sword.
