They did it AGAIN! Anyone watching cspan?
The joint energy committee just had a live meeting. It's supposed to be the last meeting before the joint agreement goes to the House floor tomorrow. No more ammendments willbe allowed unless previously agreed to. Chair of the meeting was Barton. The ways and means & the finance committee are supposed to finalize everything now and will present the finished product tomorrow.

Re. MAckey of Mass. asked if there were any Dems are going to be at that finalizing meeting, and the Chair said he didn't know, and it wasn't in his pervue. There was a bit of gnashing of teeth, and Chairman Barton banged his gavel and said this meeting is adjourned, WHILE Markey was still talking!

What's with these Pubs????

They've been arguing this bill for 5 years, and NOW he just doesn't want to listen?

1. They're fascists.
That's how fascists operate.

3. Exaclty,
don't like what you're hearing, or it's damaging to your position, just cut the mike. It's almost like we're one step away from public executions of dissenters.

To all you lurking Freepers reading this, I know you laugh when we talk about your favorite criminals in the White House like they're fascists, and chalk it up to "libral speak." But guess what, eventually they'll set their targets on you too, and by that time there will no one left to turn to for help. At that time you might regret your silent consent of the cabal occupying 1600 PA Ave and the Pentagon!

Peace!

2. They are utterly out of control in their hubris and arrogance
and we need to do everything possible to remove them from power. We have a big job ahead of us, are disadvantaged by the districting plans put in place by both parties but we need to do our utmost to inform the American public as to the corruption of the congressional repubs.

9. The World Can't Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
http://worldcantwait.org/

"Millions and millions are deeply disturbed and outraged by this. They recognize the need for a vehicle to express this outrage, yet they cannot find it; politics as usual cannot meet the enormity of the challenge, and people sense this.

There is not going to be some magical "pendulum swing." People who steal elections and believe they’re on a “mission from God will not go without a fight.

There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party. This whole idea of putting our hopes and energies into “leaders” who tell us to seek common ground with fascists and religious fanatics is proving every day to be a disaster, and actually serves to demobilize people.

But silence and paralysis are NOT acceptable. That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept. There is no escaping it: the whole disastrous course of this Bush regime must be STOPPED. And we must take the responsibility to do it."

4. They thumped us again!
They call this one 'the old back water slamaroo.'
(Did the Democrats apologize yet? That usually comes
right after the slamaroo.)

5. They are in power and still think they can get away with anything
and, obviously, they can.

I was watching it on CSPAN I (I think -- earlier); however, I turned it to "Headliners and Legends" on MSNBC regarding Hillary. I come back to CSPAN 1 and they are discussing base closures and call in from earlier today. CSPAN 2 is about Books. Is it on CSPAN 3? They must have moved it?????? I'm confused but that is nothing new.

7. No It's over now. They didn't let the meeting last very long.
It was LIVE on cspan 1. It ended just before I posted this thread!

I still can't believe what I saw!

When I saw the first one, and I can't even remember who was the Chair in that one, I remember thinking, well he's such an arrogant AS, why would I expect anything else?

This one was worse, because Rep Barton didn't seem to be one of the real mean nasty ones. He even said, this is the first committee I've ever chaired, so if I'm doing something wrong, please correct me. Of course that was earlier in the meeting!

I wonder if this rebuff will hit the media like the last one did?

10. I saw it too...
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 04:19 PM by Panda1
Barton was asked by Rep. Edward Markey about the Bill being kept secret, "...it looks bad...we can't see final bill...Ways and Means Republicans don't want to show what's in the bill."

Barton:
"Simply following the instructions I've been given by the Speaker of the House." "The chair is just being honest."

11. Dems should boycott the hearings and circulate a petition
to Dems to protest the lock-out and secrecy of the Republicans.

12. But the real solution is to elect more Dems to the House in 2006
Who is running. We need to make sure we have a Democrat running in every race even if their chances of winning are zilch. We certainly can't win if we don't enter the race.
