Sen Roberts turns Intel Committee into arm of Rove's political operation
Sen. Roberts has turned the Intel Committee into an arm of Karl Rove's political operation

From Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo

<snip>

Note that there are no congressional investigations into the origin of the Niger forgeries, the outing of Valerie Plame, and countless other scandals and mysteries large and small. (Remember, after the 2004 election, Roberts announced that there's now not enough time for the investigation into possible political manipulation of Iraqi WMD intel, which he promised prior to the election.)

But now there will be congressional hearings into whether the CIA does a good enough job at protecting the 'cover' of its agents in its Directorate of Operations.

<snip>

The only other possibility -- one which I've referred to jokingly in the past -- is to argue that she wasn't covert enough. That is to say, maybe she was covert to the CIA. But she really wasn't covert up to the standards of say, Bill Safire or Tucker Carlson or Bill O'Reilly. And this, understand, is the premise of the new Roberts' hearings. Was she really covert enough? And does the CIA really know how to define 'covert'.

<snip>

The only reason Chairman Roberts now wants hearings into this question is that it might generate more fodder for excuse-making for those who will climb any mountain and ford any stream to avoid holding any of the president's lieutenants to account.

<snip>

by the Bush Regime and the RW in Congress is going along with that.

The RW has no loyalty to their own country. They are only loyal to party and the Corp. backers.

Last December Bush purged the CIA. Anybody who wasn't a "yes" person was fired.

6. Lets demand the GOP TREASON party spew the talking points UNDER OATH!!!
Lets demand the media ask that question to any member of the Treason party (formally known as the Republican Party) Real simple media, just ask: Will you say that comment under oath? For each time a member of TREASON spews a talking point lie, ask them that question.

9. Aren't every person in DC who's a politician under oath??
When Bush and Cheney took office both times they swore an oath to the Constiution. Aren't they still under that oath? Same with all the Senators and Congresspeople.

22. I want Roberts under oath with Fitzgerald on how his addendum to the Intel
Report concluded that Wilson lied.

Roberts' addendum is a major part of the entire cover up.

11. "An oath to the Constiution"
I truely believe that most in Congress do not feel that they need to keep that oath. I include Dems in that bunch.

in all the cover ups. He could probably benefit from some jail time along with his buddies.

19. This is more retaliation against the CIA
for them "not supporting the president's agenda" and for not sitting quietly while they got blamed for all the so-called "intelligence failures"

17. Must be Roberts' trashing of Joe Wilson wasn't enough to keep WH safe
Unfortunately another huge opportunity for the Repubs to spread talking points aimed to minimize the seriousness of the Plame leak using their hand-picked Rove/Porter Goss approved witnesses so their conclusions can seem official instead of just partisan spin.

We can expect the Repubs and their media outlets to loudly spread their whitewash via these bogus hearings in an attempt to totally drown out and defuse the damning statements made by the CIA panel at the Democratic Senate hearing last Friday.

18. I watched him on Leslie Blitzer's show
he is a DISGRACE to this nation. I can only hope Rockefeller and the other Democrats on the Senate Intelligence committee have some words with him and set his ass straight. I hope after the indictments of his beloved chimperor and cronies that he is shamed out of office and at the least off of that committee!
