12. Here's the post from our local site

Last night we ended our weekend events with a DSM "Birthday" party
at Patriot Park in Phx. Andrea made a HUGE faux cake made out of
4 kiddie pools, 'frosted' with stucco and painted to look like a
cake.....I think someone has pics to upload of that. Very cool!

Folks took turns with the bullhorn or loud voices to address the
crowd.
We talked about the Downing Street Memo, and the lies that have been
spewed getting us (America) to the point we are now, on the verge
of a draft etc.
Fred from 1010 Air America (M&M show) made a short speech as well as
many other local activists.
We had quite a few folks step up and say "I've NEVER done this
before"
and talked about how they can NO LONGER be silent.

Several people including myself, Mike, and Lonnie talked about
Freewayblogging and urged everyone to visit Scarlets web site and to
join the Yahoogroup.....FREEWAYBLOGGING REALLY WORKS!
I hear alot of people say "we need more people" "we need a crowd"
That simply isn't true!!!!!!
If you're lurking in this Yahoogroup waiting for a crowd to form in
your area....STOP IT! I urge you to get out there, post your
signs.....If you build it they WILL COME! :) It only takes ONE person
and I truly thank Scarlet sooooooooo much for showing me that!

Ive been participating in and organizing protests for about 10 years
now
and I had been taught over and over that "There's strength in numbers"
and I do agree with that, but it was taught to me in a way that
unless I have a group, how can I possibly get noticed enough to make
change?
THIS IS HOW!!!!!!

Moving on...
We wrapped up the rally and decided (impromptu) to march down to
Bank One Ballpark and continue our protest. The police were
surprisingly helpful and we were escorted down to where we wanted to
be. The police stayed in the area and held back a few irate (drunks)
Repubs.
To me it was frightening to witness waves and waves of people coming
at us with completely blank looks on there faces as we chanted
"The war is a lie" and "Now is the time to speak out!" Its sad to
see so many people void of thought. I do feel however that we did
wake alot of people up and of course we had ALOT of people thank us
for being out there.

Also want to thank all the folks who participated this weekend, it was
a pleasure to meet you all and I really look forward to working along
side with
you! This group really worked hard! Thank you so much!!!

P.S. We had beer bottles thrown at us on are march down Mill Ave on Friday night... We were also competing with two assholes with Harleys who were illiterate and couldn't face truth... we used them to our advantage and stood over them with our signs... They attracted much attention to OUR cause! yah ah ah! Dumb shits! Peace signs flipped to them from most passing motorists! LOL
