What are the WH's favorite words or phrases?
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 12:16 PM by sabra
Lately, it seems like I hear the word, "ideology" and "we appreciate" in almost every speech or news conference.

What else?

1. Definitely "I Appreciate"...
They cannot start a speech or dodge a tough question without saying that first.

22. I appreciate the fact that you think like I do!
"I appreciate the question" is one of Scottie's fave phrases, and Bush uses "I appreciate" before he ever starts to answer anything.

I believe it's a method of buying time while the hamsters in wheels working the spin machines in their heads go into overdrive.

15. "The American people are patient."
Spoken mostly in reference to the Iraq war.

Boy, is this White House in for a surprise.

My personal favorite was the word "fabulous", used by George to describe everyone from Momma Babs to Donny Rumsfeld.

He's stopped using it of late, perhaps Karen Hughes advised him that it's unpresidential to use expressions picked up from gay male prostitutes who "bed and breakfast" at the White House.

18. Nucular.
If that's even a word. More likely, it's something in the soundtrack of a really scary video game for eight-year old boys.

I wouldn't want to get to the eighth level of that game. :dunce: :nuke:

23. What bothers me is that more and more people in the media are now using it
People who you think should know better are saying nucular. It's like being in school again, the "cool kids" say stuff that everybody else has to start parroting - not that I'm saying * is cool, just that it's those in power.

25. When something actually goes well, or they expect to be perceived well,
it's "unprecedented."

Of course, when the issue is something that's either going poorly OR is something being perceived as negative, the phrase is "previous administration"
