DLC versus DNC- who's in charge?
I loathe the DLC and I won't vote for a DLC candidate. I'm puzzled, however, about whether the DNC, as headed by Dean, sees the DLC as their main spokesman or are they just a fringe group of Democrats that hope to have power? When it comes down to elections, how much power does the DLC have in who the DNC will advocate to run?

2. No, you can't ask questions, you must only hate the DLC.
The DLC is just one branch of the Dems. The DNC sees them as a good group to have around, because they pull a lot of moderates away from the Repubs. They also bring money and financial resources to the table. There are a number of other powerful factions: the far left, the African American, the feminists/pro-choice group, labor. These groups sometimes overlap, some are more organized than others (As we've seen with labor today).

People treat the DLC like some far right sellout group. They're a just another group that thinks of the Repubs as greedy, selfish bastards, but isn't ready yet to throw off all worldly possessions and dance naked around the communal bonfire. I don't understand the hatred, frankly. Maybe if the Democrats actually had some power to fight over, I'd want to fight them. Until we get some, though, I'm best buddies with anyone who will vote for a Democratic candidate, for any reason, and worst enemies with anyone who won't, for any reason. It's too serious right now to be perfectionists.

Just MHO.

6. I wonder about the intension's of some fanning these flames.

I have been wondering about the intension's of some of the people seeking to inflame disunity in the Party here. (That was not aimed ant anyone)

It is more productive to focus energies against Repugs.

I will not keep quiet if a DINO does something that I do not like.

7. I don't question their intentions
I can understand the gut reaction to get angry and feel betrayed from time to time. I feel that way, too, from both sides of the party.

But I'm with you. I prefer to slap the Republicans aside their wooden heads than to go after my own party. Though, naturally, I've been known to slip up, from time to time. :-)

8. I'm always ready to smack back the Republican agenda
but I'm also wanting to clarify for myself that the DLC is only a minor, as someone said below, think tank part of a broader DNC group. I am not anti-war but I am anti-militarism and anti-corporatism, which puts me at odds with the DLC camp.

I want to see and hear some more of the progressive and populist factions in the DNC.

3. the DLC itself has disparate members--many are quite leftish--
but the organization itself, and the policies it advocates, are PPI-AEI-PNAC-CATO evil alphabet soup; many in the DLC share such views. The official DLC views are shared by next to nobody in the real world, but many that are corrupt, sadistic and in power--Dem or not

4. The DLC is a think tank, not an arm of the DNC
The DLC uses it's corporate connections to raise money for canidates it supports and those candidates must conform to the "New Dem/pro-corporate" mantra.

The DNC is made up of 440 members, who all vote for the Exec committee, which has 40 members including the Chairman. The DNC is responsible for running the Dem Convention where the Presidential nominee gives his/her acceptance speech. The DNC is mainly composed of Dems from the state and local levels of the Democratic Party. The DLC is a think tank and not beholden to each state's Dem Party, like the DNC members can be.

As far as decision making within the DNC, the DNC has bylaws. The Chairman is not a king. The Exec Committee steers the DNC -- sets agenda and dates for conventions -- but most major decisions are made at the national convention.

When Dean was being attacked for his remarks about Repuke leaders and the Repuke Party being mainly a "white Christian party," it was the DNC Exec Committee who backed Dean and gave the political "finger" to those Dem leaders, who "distanced" themselves from Dean, when they told Dean that they elected him to fight Repukes, not be a wimp, like the DLC clowns want Dems to be.
