Something I thought of with the GOP "investigating" Fitzgerald

I read earlier today that they were planning on doing that. I was just thinking. What if this is a plan to bring about some fake crap with Fitzgerald to get Bush to fire him to stop the investigation?

1. Where did you hear about Fitz being investigated by

Republicans? If they do this, everyone who is wake (everyone) will see this for what it is - the Fascist Party of America falling in to protect their Leader. This cannot be allowed to happen. The Democrats in both houses of congress MUST walk out and refuse to sit in chamber with these fascist lick-spittles. Some huge demonstration like the entire Democratic Party walking out would at least make this a non - "business as usual" situation.

4. I think the WH has Pat Roberts on a fishing expedition.

They want to find out just how much Fitzgerald knows. Most of these leaks have been coming from Rovebush's lawyer and the journalists involved in the case. Fitzgerald and his staff haven't been leaking. It's driving the WH crazy not knowing who or what Fitzgerald has. There's been talk of Fitzgerald getting another six-month extension. I think Rovebush is going nuts and has instructed Pat Roberts to find out via the Senate Select Intelligence committee.

I don't think they can fire Fitzgerald. In fact, I think the reason Rovebush wanted Alberto Gonzalez at the Supreme Court is so they could appoint a new Attorney General who, without Gonzalez's obvious conflicts, could fire the prosecutor. Gonzalez has testified before the Grand Jury -- he couldn't fire Fitzgerald.

But, the Plame story was hot and heavy -- and the right-wing raised such a ruskus -- that Rovebush had to move away from Gonzalez, which leaves him at the helm of the Dept. of Justice and he can't fire the prosecutor. Hamstrung. Ouch.

Rovebush has to find out what the prosecutor knows.

6. Yes, Some of the statements that are presented with the leaks

are actually lies such as that Plame was a desk jockey. The Republicans are trying to goad Fitzgerald and his staff into making statements to correct the misinformation. Of course they will not respond. The Bush cabal must be very frustrated. They are getting very frightened. This Roberts ploy is sheer desperation and very unwise from a strategic point of view. A Roberts investigation will only draw more attention to the conduct of Rove et al. There is no way they can get out of this. They did something terribly wrong.
