1. Except for places like this you'll have a hard time finding mention of
the casualties anywhere.

Yahoo is about the most 'mainstream' source that I've seen that will put up stories about the deaths of our men/women in Iraq.

5. Yahoo will probably pick it up later. I don't ever check google.
What pisses me off is the 'support the troops' shit that they always throw at everyone, even if it's a guy caught on film shooting an unarmed wounded man. But then when they make the supreme sacrifice, albeit against their will, no mention. In that case, they don't give a damn.

4. Not important...........
protecting Karl Rove is job one at the moment. These dead soldiers would understand. Their Commander in Chief is under siege by the "Liberal Media".
Honestly, how much longer do we wait to withdraw out troops? How many more will have to die before King George realizes what a fantastic fuck up he's been? How long before the American people DEMAND a withdrawal of our troops from a war that was predicated upon the lies of our government officials? HOW LONG?

6. Bring them home now!
Seems the war news has been getting more quiet every day. I guess we are supposed to be led to believe all is well there, free and fair elections were held, democracy is on the march.

Iraq: This is Now an Unwinnable Conflict

As he completes another tour of duty in the chaos of Iraq, award-winning reporter Patrick Cockburn charts how Bush and Blair's 'winnable war' turned into a mess that is inspiring a worldwide insurgency

by Patrick Cockburn

The Duke of Wellington, warning hawkish politicians in Britain against ill-considered military intervention abroad, once said: "Great nations do not have small wars." He meant that supposedly limited conflicts can inflict terrible damage on powerful states. Having seen what a small war in Spain had done to Napoleon, he knew what he was talking about.

For future historians Iraq will probably replace Vietnam as the stock example of the truth of Wellington's dictum about small wars escalating into big ones.

The war in Iraq is now joining the Boer War in 1899 and the Suez crisis in 1956 as ill-considered ventures that have done Britain more harm than good. It has demonstrably strengthened al-Qa'ida by providing it with a large pool of activists and sympathizers across the Muslim world it did not possess before the invasion of 2003. The war, which started out as a demonstration of US strength as the world's only superpower, has turned into a demonstration of weakness. Its 135,000-strong army does not control much of Iraq.

The suicide bombing campaign in Iraq is unique. Never before have so many fanatical young Muslims been willing to kill themselves, trying to destroy those whom they see as their enemies. On a single day in Baghdad this month 12 bombers blew themselves up. There have been more than 500 suicide attacks in Iraq over the last year.

9. And the best the news speaks to the idiots
out there is some Aruba missing person and Paris Hilton. No one cares anymore until it touches them personally. Then they care. It won't matter until everyone has lost someone "over there." It's a repeat of my 60's all over again. At least back then we saw the count on the evening news, US dead: Viet Cong dead: We aren't even doing that now. Sad, very, very sad.

8. Seriously
I usually insert a bad joke in response to Leftchick's casualty posts. But I'm not in the mood today, particularly after Myers called the service in Iraq "noble" urging others to sign up.

We should call for a selective draft of all 18-35 year old children of all Republican politicians nationwide. How about it?

10. The brave men and women dying for Dubya's folly are
becoming footnotes. How often is a dead soldier on the front page of the paper or the top story in a news broadcast? It reminds me of Vietnam. After awhile there were so many casualties they all blurred together and everyone forgot they were real people with real lives. It's happening again. They're turning into numbers.

17. I update the deaths on my vehicle every time I go to town
in the hopes folks will actually start noticing the numbers.
It's absolutely sobering to see the numbers rise. :(

19. Heard that two convoys were attacked over weekend but no death toll
was listed...I guess the Media has been told to lock it down. War is going well and we are bringing Democracy to the Middle East. At least Tony Blair was raving on this morning on C-Span speaking exactly like the Chimp.

Enjoy your vacation "left chick." ...upstate NY! Haven't been there in years but loved it when I was. :hi:
