Citing a "breakout quarter," A.G. Edwards reiterated a "buy" rating on Halliburton (nyse: HAL - news - people ) after the company's strong second-quarter performance.
The research firm also lifted the stock's price target to $66 from $54 "to reflect strong earnings recovery, reduced uncertainty and attractive valuation."
According to A.G. Edwards, although earnings per share of 76 cents were partially comprised of work done in Iraq, "higher oilfield service profitability clearly enabled Halliburton to handily beat consensus."
The research firm raised its 2005 and 2006 EPS estimate to $3.03 and $3.49, respectively, from $2.28 and $2.63. "Global oilfield service recovery should extend earnings improvement into 2006."
