Novak really pisses me off. He should be sitting in jail, too

I just had to get it off my chest so I sent him a note.

Mr. Novak;

How were you serving our country when you agreed to "out" Ms. Plame? How do you justify it in your own mind? I've read your excuses and they don't hold water. It was not common knowledge that she was a CIA undercover agent as you claim. And even if it was known in your tiny circle of loose-lipped politicos, gossips and pundits, did that justify destroying someone's career, curtailing a long-term and expensive operation, and possibly causing the death of CIA contractors?

Further, do you feel pleased with yourself for your role in helping to discredit honest people and bully others into staying silent so that America could enter into an unjust war for oil?

I hope you see the damage you, personally, have done to our nation by agreeing to be a tool for Karl Rove and his desire to "get even" with Joe Wilson for being brave enough to call the White House on its lies.

Further, as the story continues to unravel, I hope you are required, finally, to answer for your role in this despicable act.

That White House "access" must really be something for you to sell out your country for it.

1. I don't get it either.

Can someone tell me why Novak was not arrested for revealing the name of a covert CIA operative, yet Miller is in jail for not revealing a name (or names). All for the same case, presumably.

3. Apples and Oranges, legally

Although on a moral and ethical level it would appear unjust. Judith Miller is not in jail for a crime, she is in jail for being in contempt of court, after refusing to testify without a legal basis to refuse. Novak obviously sang like a bird to the grand jury, thus he was in no danger of such a contempt citation. It seems unlikely that Novak committed a crime himself when he revealed what the white house had leaked to him, but that remains to be seen. At the end of the day, crime or no crime, he is a bitter, old, talentless, unethical hack. So he's got that going for him.

5. We can always hope that he will be viewed as a pariah eventually

something he richly deserves.

And it will be interesting to see who Miller is protecting -- besides herself, of course.
