Why aren't the Dems making a big deal of global warming?
The Dems seems so spineless and limp these days that they're even passing up safe opportunities, like environmental issues. With much of the country suffering under a terrible heat wave, why aren't they raising these issues in a big way? Bush has been horrendous on environmental issues, and the threat of global warming must be hitting home even in some of the reddest states. The Dems should be running ads and making strong statements on these issues. They're letting an opportunity pass.

1. Cause if they started talking about things that made sense and people
cared about then they'd start winning elections and for some reason they want no part in that.

3. Because they are almost as much in bed with corporations as the Right.
And deception, bribery and intimidation do the rest.

Ever notice how the pickle profits increase when the Dems are in charge....just like the energy sector when the Repubs are in charge...

8. Yes...I noticed that!
Ha Ha Ha Ha!

We're in a pickle 24/7 now. Mrs. Kerry wanted to CAN, the pickles in the WH. When the pickle is on the upstroke and destined to be on top again, everything will be kosher...

7. Almost? Try "equally"...
The same corporate interests bankroll both parties; they may on average give a bit more to Republicans, but they make sure to hedge their bets.

Look at Clinton's environmental record (better than Bush's, perhaps, but not that great anyway - worse, in fact, than Nixon's), Clinton's (and the Democratic Party's) wholehearted support of NAFTA, GATT, and free-trade neoliberalism...what confuses me is why anyone is surprised, at this point. Guess people haven't been paying attention.

9. It's just that it seems to me there are a few more good guys in the Dem
party then there are in the Repub party.
But i'd agree the difference is marginal.

10. Al Gore has given some excellent speeches about global warming
and they never seem to get reported.

14. Gore did all through 2000 as well, Chris Lehane said that the media
always reacted to Gore's speeches and position papers about global warming as "Boring - - everybody KNOWS Gore's the global warming dude" and would not cover them. (The media have so much to answer for in this country.)

F.Y.I. Gore's currently making a feature length documentary about global warming with Laurie David...

13. Dems passing on an opportunity to be a genuine opposition party?
What a rare, rare occurrence. Really bizarre. What possible conclusions could one draw regarding a political party leaving a potentially winning issue on the table? Too hard for me to figure out, but I'm sure someone here can connect the dots for those of us unable to do so.

16. Why do you lie about Dems?
Your post is a flat out lie. Why do you tell them about Democrats if you want Democrats to win?

And mods, there just isn't any other word for this shit, they're lies.

17. Because there's no sex to it
Really, they want to sex up their views...make it interesting and not so dry. As big of a problem as it is, global warming is a boring subject to a lot of people.

If it was important to people, we wouldn't see the number of gas hogging SUVs as we do.

Dems know people don't care...and I think a lot of dems don't care all that much either.
