Roberts lies again?
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 09:09 AM by LuckyTheDog
OK, first he got caught in a lie about being in the Federalist Society (he says he never joined but was, in fact, an OFFICER in the group) and now this? Sadly, though, I can guarantee that the Bush-ites will rush to Roberts' defense and make excuses for his lies. They will put "winning" ahead of the integrity of the court. But is it too much to ask for a justice who isn't a big liar?

"The role of U.S. Supreme Court nominee John Roberts in the 2000 election aftermath in Florida was larger than has been reported. Roberts helped prepare the Supreme Court case."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/24/AR2005072401201.html

Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr. has repeatedly said that he has no memory of belonging to the Federalist Society, but his name appears in the influential, conservative legal organization's 1997-1998 leadership directory.

And HE got confirmed, 52-48, closest vote ever. This country has been a solid oligarchy for decades. The only hope is for a Democrate in the WH, slowing the advance of the Fascists, even if it's for show. Another Repub pres. will devastate our economy and liberty and cement the RW gains.

2. Mike Malloy read an e-mail last night about this
Someone wrote in and said that Democrats should immediately ask for a medical exam of Roberts to make sure he's not in early stages of some sort of dementia like Reagan was. After all, he's a fairly young guy, and he's being asked about something fairly recent. As the writer said, "It's not like they are asking him if he was a Webelo in the Cub Scouts!"

3. Everyone involved with Repugs in Fla/2000 has been rewarded. Doesn't
that sound like the old Mafia? Doesn't that prove that the crime is being covered and that all those who know where the "bodies are buried" are being paid hush money...

How long must we wait for this all to come out...But, it won't because it's TOO BIG and they had help from those on our side somewhere along the way. It's really sad..
