The Number Of Insugents Killed In Iraq - Another Lie
This morning on Washington Journal, Rob read some piece (i forget from which paper) regarding the number of insurgents the military has killed in Iraq. Believe it or not, he quoted the number of 50,000!

Well, well, well.

In front of Congress, both Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz both claimed that the insurgents were a "handful" of ex-Baathists and islamic radicals. A handful!

Cheney, in two different speeches, said they were a tiny minority of the country and that we had them on the run.

Now, we've got 50,000(!) insurgents dead, and they are still fighting back, meaning by definition, there were more than 50,000. Mind you, 50,000 people is more than 1.5% of the country's entire population. So, we've killed that many, as claimed by the Pentagon, run by the same people who said the insurgents were a mere handful.

If >1.5% of the population is a "handful", Rummy must have REALLY BIG HANDS!

So, either they lied to Congress, or; they're so incompetent they actually believed that attacks this coordinated over an area the size of California could be conducted by a handful. Or, the number killed so far is a lie.

Either way, the civilian leadership of the military has PROVEN that they are either complete liars, or idiots, or some blend of the two.

Did anybody else here that read by Rob this morning?

2. Thanks.
My mistake. Brain cramp i guess. But, despite that error, the point is still there to be made.

That's too many people to be considered a handful. The country does not want us there.

4. But 50,000 is more than they would previously admit had died.
Their 50K is the total deaths they have inflicted on Iraqis -- by their counts. So they are defining all Iraqis their war has killed as insurgents: including babies and toddlers.

Well, some of them are idiots and ALL of them are liars.
