Servicemen Not so Fond of Jane's Upcoming Tour

CBN.com – (CBN News) - Jane Fonda is planning another anti-war protest. This time, she will speak out against the Iraq war in a cross-country bus tour.

And, as before, some American servicemen are not too happy about her tactics.

....

Many Vietnam veterans have not forgiven her, or forgotten the incident, such as 54-year-old Michael Smith. He attended her book signing in Kansas City for the sole purpose of spitting in her face.

....

But she has decided the time has come to protest America's presence in Iraq. Some veterans groups see Fonda's upcoming bus tour as yet another betrayal.

1. I don't know whether this is good or bad
Bad because it will get all the old vets riled up and pissed. Good because someone who is a semi celebrity will get attention to the cause.

22. I was referring to the betrayal part of Jane Fonda's life
If Jane Fonda wants to go out and speak against the war, I will join her.

As far as the Vietnam War goes, I feel it was just a stupid as the Iraq war we have now. That war was nothing but a test bed for the Industrial War Complex to use people as cannon fodder for the improvement of microprocessors attached to high explosives. It is a crying shame that people who drafted in the war were not held in praise upon their return which the government (I infer most political parties) shoves up our nose because we as a country do not support our troops(*). There were some people in the news lately saying we could have won the war if we had the support. Well I say, the government did have the Nation's support(blindly) until 1968 and these people are full of shit implying that Vietnam War could have been won. It was not a to be won, it was a war of containment. That was by design by the politicians of that time.

These people with there flag waving, support the troops with no reservations deserve themselves.

10. Uh, No . . .
The American military isn't defending our freedoms these days. If anything, they're helping the Bush government take them away. The war in Iraq certainly has nothing to do with American freedom.

13. End Time Delusions (by Steve Wohlberg). They believe in
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 04:08 PM by EVDebs
a 'greater Israel' from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates as the Promised Land.

See maps at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/israel/greater-israel-maps.htm

They also believe in the rebuilding of a Third Temple. Unfortunately this entails the destruction of the Al Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock. See Temple Mount Faithful organization's website also.

According to Wohlberg's book this is an entirely un-biblical reading of scriptures which the readers of the Left Behind novels have foisted upon BushCo as their foreign policy, via the neocon PNACers et al, many with joint US/Israeli citizenship.

We on DU should be discussing this but too often the cry 'anti-Semite' comes up and discussion is shut down and the thread locked up. DU needs to bring this out into the open since it underlies Bushco's entire justification (not to mention playing to his base of evangelicals) for war and occupation.

7. This is huge news in Wingnutisphere, y'know.
all the usual Usenet hooligans are trotting out their best "traitor bitch" outrage over her tour.

BTW:

Some veterans groups see Fonda's upcoming bus tour as yet another betrayal.

I'm sure those Christofascist fucks at cbn.com looked high and low to find vets who didn't see it as a betrayal, right? right?

shouldn't have spit their wad of tobacco at her, when she was trying to promote a book. I doubt she'd be doing this if not for the spitting incident.

20. My very very personal opinion....
I don't give a flying phuck if they like it or not.

And michael smith can also go phuck himself. If he had spit in my face I would have sued that rude unsanitary insane bastard 7 ways to Sunday.

More swift boat liars bs.

Jane has every right to speak her mind and I applaud her for it.

:applause:

21. What else would CBN be saying?
no surprise. In a way, I wish Jane would not do this.. It almost seems that every time an election looms, some of our people just cannot stop themselves from pouring salt into old wounds, and by doing so, just invigorate the opposition.
