Stop Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) from interfering w/ Fitz's Investigation
This was posted on Cannonfire:

Senator Pat Roberts is the new enemy. Here's how to fight him.
Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, refused to investigate the Niger forgeries, citing "an ongoing investigation" by the FBI. (Sound fmailiar?) Yet, as we mentioned earlier, he now has time to investigate the very concept of CIA cover.

An increasing number of progressives understand that these hearings will function as a tool to undermine the Plame investigation. We need to get the word out: This forthcoming "investigation" is important precisely because it will be rigged.

Now we learn that Roberts intends to investigate an investigator. He has set his sights on Patrick Fitzgerald. (Scroll down to the final paragraph of the linked story.)

Nope, he's not going to investigate Rove or Libby or anyone else who may have functioned treasonously in this scandal. Instead, Roberts intends to "probe" (read: undermine) Fitzgerald's attempt to determine the truth.

Email (or call) members of the Senate Intelligence Committee and tell them to stop Roberts!

1. shameless self-kick!
if we're counting on Fitz's ability to hand out indictments, we better be aware that the repugs are already hard at work to get immunity for these criminals...

contact the members of the Senate Intelligence Committee and tell them not to fall for this trick!

3. Fitzapatrick is a smart cookie ..
If he was done with his investigation with the exception of Miller, he should be ready to hand out indictments. I'm willing to bet he reads the papers (and hopefully DU) and gets it all going in August while Washington is on vacation. There's reason to be concerned because Rockefeller is still too green on that committee to go up against the more seasoned Roberts. I wish he'd take a crash course and that other Dem senators would coach him.

4. Makes me wonder
what he is so damned afraid of. If Rove did no wrong, then what does he have to worry about? Let the investigation run its course and Rove will be exonerated.

No need to interfer unless you know the out come won't be to your liking.

5. I scanned/read it all and I still can't figure out what Roberts is
investigating? Did Fitzgerald skip through the security check point at some courthouse? Is he behind in his taxes? Did he contact someone to make an appointment before a subpoena was received?

10. He definitely should. The problem is that he has so much power
in Washington, and so many corrupt friends to help him out.

11. Here's what I'm sending the Committee Mbrs:
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 12:13 AM by snot
B.t.w., nominated. (Edited to confirm, e-mails sent to all Intelligence Committee Members.)

Dear Senator _______:

Please do all you can to oppose Senator Pat Roberts' call for an investigation of Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.

The outing of Valerie Plame was nothing short of treasonous, and it is of utmost importance--as a matter of national security, among other reasons--that those responsible be identified, terminated from employment with the U.S. government and called to account. (Naturally, once those responsible have been identified, those who were NOT responsible will be cleared of suspicion. Both are results that all should applaud.)

Mr. Fitzgerald has heretofore shown nothing but the highest competence and integrity. Senator Roberts’ suggestion that Mr. Fitzgerald should be investigated should be rejected as nothing more than a blatant effort to obstruct the investigation of the Plame outing.

Thank you for your consideration.
