I already hate fundamentalism and generally despise religion and stories like this only reinforce it further. There is no room in reality or in life for that kind of medieval irrationality.

It is a tragedy that both the Arabic and Persian cultures achieved as much as they did mathematically, and scientifically (google "The Firist") when they did hundreds of years ago and yet are so incredibly backward today.
