Someone asked how Santorum made his $$, So I checked.
It appears he made it as an lawyer practicing in Pgh. But I found something on the web site that absolutely blew my mind!!!!

Read THIS:

He and his wife have six children, Elizabeth Anne, Richard John ("Johnny"), Jr., Daniel James, Sarah Maria, Peter Kenneth, and Patrick Francis. Their son Gabriel Michael was born prematurely in 1996--at 20 weeks--and died two hours after being born. Instead of taking the baby to a funeral home, Rick and his wife brought the palm size Gabriel home to show to their other children (then ages four, six, and eight), take photos and sing to the newborn. <2> Karen used the experience to write a book, Letters to Gabriel: The True Story of Gabriel Michael Santorum ISBN 1568145284. Earlier in the pregnancy, a sonogram revealed their unborn child's closed posterior urethral valve and they were informed of the low probability of his survival to birth.

I knew he was a nutcase, but that story about their baby is flat out bizzare!

1. So what do you tell the 4 and 6 year old?
How on earth are they expected to understand about Gabriel?

That is just too damned weird, definitely not normal.

3. a hypocrit's hypocrit.
He was an attorney of the abulance chasing variety.

At the same time he was marshalling through "tort reform" in the senate (if by reform he meant "getting rid of the ability to sue for punitive damages), he was prosecuting a law suit for a relatively minor car accident in which he got $750,000 in punitive damages for his wife and $3million in punitive damages for himself.

9. This is what's really important.
What they choose to do with their dead baby does not matter.

10. My folks finally pulled out my little bro and sis from CCD
when they started showing slides of aborted fetuses. That was 10-12 years ago too. It is a very odd and rabid, politicized world view.

HOW UTTERLY CREEPY...

For YEARS I had dreams after I found a box of old black & white framed pictures of babies in the same old carriage..6 of them. I asked my mother who they were.. She said they were the babies that had died before she and her borther and sister were born. They dressed the baby up and had a photographer take a picture..My grandmother had SIX stillborn before the last 3 survived.

I was a teenager, and it freaked me out.. Can you imagine what those little ones were thinking?

13. yes I've read about that before here, IIRC they kept the pitiful corpse
at home for THREE DAYS!!

now, I know in the old days families would "lay out" the dead in the parlour for a couple days and pray and folks would have time to travel to the funeral, but IIRC the Santorums hugged and kissed and held and rocked the corpse

There's just something too bizarre about that scenario......

15. I don't mean to sound stupid, but are you ALLOWED to do that?
I mean, take a dead baby from a hospital and just take it home? I don't know why, but it just sounds like something that the hospital authorities would say "hey, you can't do that."

BTW, my mother told me about how they used to lay dead relatives out in the parlor too. We are Irish, and the family would have a wake. You see, they celebrated death, since that person had endured the trials of earth and were now reaping their rewards in heaven. There was always irish whisky and beer at the wake, and it wasn't unusual to put a drink in "poor old Uncle Patty's hand".

I've never been to one of these however. Happened long before I was born.
