What is the attitude toward torture in your community?

I read a lot of LTTE saying, "If torture saves one American life, then it's worth it." It's too bad that we don't hold ourselves to higher standards than our enemies. I guess they don't realize that the Geneva Convention is supposed to protect Americans as well.

I'm waiting to hear someone say, "If raping an 8 year old boy saves one American, then it's OK."

1. Denial and "Liberal" lies

I live in a pretty rural podunk town that believes in mom, apple pie, and all that. I think the elephant is replace by the ostracich and they have there heads in the sand because they say there "were the good guys and we dont do that."

2. I see people saying it's "okay" so long as it's proportional retalitation

e.g. castrating rapists, subjecting BushCo to Abu Ghraib torture conditions, etc.

ON EDIT: I personally think it's a bad idea no matter what.
