Nomination for the Top Ten Conservative Idiots list
This is an actual letter to the editor:
-------------------------------------------------------
I'm a wife, mother and grandma. I'm also very proud to be an American. This is not a perfect world. Nevertheless, it is occupied by many good people. I'm sickened and angered when I read about the terrorist bombings and indiscriminate murder of innocent people, children included.

My reaction is only intensified when the liberal left, especially the American Civil Liberties Union, under the guise of protecting our civil rights, calls for applying the protection of our Constitution and Bill of Rights to these evil scoundrels <"ACLU investigates random train searches," Newsday.com, July 25>.

The ACLU seems always to be in the forefront of those ready to defend people who have committed horrific crimes against Americans. Now our privacy rights are being used as reason to object to checking of commuters' carry-ons. If you are not doing anything wrong or have some embarrassing things in your bags, you will get over it. But you won't ever be able to forget the loss of a loved one or close friend perishing as a result of a terrorist's bomb.

Ann Lennon

2. Let's see how Ann feels when cops paw through her purse and tampons

Do they even have trains and subways in Massapequa??

Has Ann Lennon even been more than twenty miles from Massapequa?

Massapequa, NY 11758

It may be home to comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the famous acting family of the Baldwin brothers, but did you know that composer Marvin Hamlisch and musician Dee Snyder of the rock group Twisted Sister hail from Massapequa as well? So does Ron Kovic, the antiwar hero that Tom Cruise portrayed in the movie, Born on the Fourth of July. A true celebrity nest, Massapequa occupies 3.6 square miles of space within the Town of Oyster Bay and has a population of about 21,820 (Jan. 1990). East Massapequa and North Massapequa are communities within Massapequa, with populations of 19,411 and 19,251 respectively.

<snip>
The oldest object in Massapequa is the tombstone of Major Thomas Jones, the town’s first non-Indian settler, which dates back to 1713, and can be found on the complex of the Historical Society of the Massapequas at 4775 Merrick Road. In addition to the Floyd-Jones burial grounds, this site houses the ‘Old’ Grace Episcopal Church (1844), the DeLancy Floyd-Jones Free Library (circa 1896), and the Elbert Floyd-Jones Servants Cottage, now a museum (circa 1890).

Recreational points in Massapequa include John J. Burns Town Park and Marjorie R. Post Community Park. Massapequa is also the home of a major Mall, the Sunrise Mall and has a thriving business district along Broadway between Sunrise Highway and Southern State Parkway.

3. Actually, the guy above her is even worse . . .
"If you don't want your bags subject to search, then find another way to get about your travels. That is your constitutional right!"

Funny, I thought my Consitutional right was "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I don't see anything about giving up a right to use public transportation as a result of demanding my rights under the Fourth Amendment.

6. and how far is it
to them just being able to 'randomly' search your home. Or just search every home in a particular neighborhood, without a warrant?

If they can search everyone getting on a train, which otherwise goes against the fourth ammendment, because the search is 'reasonable' because there are people who would bring bombs on trains in backpacks....

How far is it from there to the searching of everyone's homes, whenever they want, without warrant, because terrorists are building bombs in basements, or hiding homemade dirty bombs in a basement, so it's now 'reasonable' to just search anyones homes whenever they want...

That's the problem. Allowing this basically nullifies the entire fourth ammendment.

4. "If you're not guilty of anything, you won't act like you have..."
"anything to hide" or the variation "Only people with something to hide would act that way."

The Nazis loved people who thought that way.

5. How Would Anna Like A Knock At Her Door
Maybe this letter isn't quite what it appears. Maybe it's really some coded Al Queda sleeper cell message. Anna, maybe your loose lips just sank some ships!

Sheesh. How come I think this lady still thinks there are reds under her bed. Faux News loves these sheeple.
