The CAFTA vote shows how little power the DLC has

the DLC came out strongly in favor of Cafta, no surprise to anyone.

But then when it came time for the vote, 95% of the House DLCers voted against it.

The DLC tried to make it look like a dem voting for Cafta was a viable option, but when it came time to vote, 95% of the House DLC chose to go with Pelosi over Marshall.

The DLC wants to make Cafta look bipartisan, it's not.

Did Pelosi even have a chance of rounding up enough Republicanoids to vote against CAFTA? No she didn't. On the other hand she did hold the bulk of the Democrats together to oppose CAFTA, and, coincidentally enough, the DLC. So that is a victory of sorts - obviously I'd enjoy it more if we had crushed the hated CAFTA under our feet, but in these days, you have to take your victories where you find them.

She failed to stop Cafta, but did succeed in getting strong democratic opposition to Cafta. Those two statements do not contradict each other.

Whether or not you are satisfied with a minor success has nothing to do with whether or not it can be described as a success in a certain context.

Yes it wasnt enough, nobody disagrees with that, the word success doesnt mean overall success in this context.

Our jobs just got even more outsourced. Who cares if she set an attitude? We still lost the war. That's then end. It's now law, and we're fucked even more by the Corporate whores. You know, the DLC is anti-American and Pro-Republican. The DLC is pro-Republican interest. That's as good as Republican for me and should be for everyone.
