Please help, mozilla mail problem.
Last night I used IE to view films at ifilm, works better than Mozilla. Anyway, this a.m. when I go to check mail, ALL of my saved emails, files and setup info is GONE!! I tried to compose and get setup account screen. The only thing there is my address book listings.
I had emails from Helen Thomas and John Conyers, personal emails, not newsletters. These were precious to me.
Can anyone tell me what may have happened? Can I retrieve my files/folders? How?

My deepest gratitude to anyone that can help me.
I have an apt. in a short while and will login later.

Thank you!

Vicki

3. vickiss -
I have to leave for work so I don't have time to help you fix this - BUT, I want you to know that you can relax because your email is still there and can be retrieved.

Hopefully someone with more time than I will explain it or point you in the right direction - but rest assured this can be fixed.

Good luck!

7. Are you using Mozilla Thunderbird for your email client?
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 09:18 AM by JohnyCanuck
If so, check out the info here

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Disappearing_mail

Take a look at the above link under Part III

Situation: you launch Thunderbird and the Account Wizard pops up. It seems that all of your accounts and account information have vanished. This is likely due to one of the following: (1) Thunderbird created a new, entirely blank profile when starting up or (2) your prefs.js file, which is stored in your profile folder and contains your account settings, got corrupted. Before proceeding, it is recommended that you make a temporary backup of your profile folder if you have not already done so.

Just as an FYI, your profile folder should be under C:\documents and settings\User Name\Application Data\Thunderbird

You also might want to ask for help on the Mozilla Community support forums at: http://www.mozilla.org/support/#forums

I've used Mozilla Thunderbird myself for about 6 months and have had no problems with it. It sounds like your prefs.js file in your profile folder might have become corrupted for some reason.

I also use the freeware program Mozbackup ( http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ ) to backup my Firefox/Thunderbird profiles on a regular basis. If you have been doing regular backups of your hard drive usng a generic backup program, it might be possible to try restoring the prefs.js file from a previous backup.

8. ...
Go to Start | Search | For files or folders... and do a search for *.slt. The .slt is the mail file.

Open Netscape Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings.

Scroll to the bottom of the Server Settings window to the "Local directory" path.

Ensure that this path points to the correct location of your Mail Account folders on the HD.
