**The NEXT Big Thing: * STOLE IT!!! Outright! Great info source!!!
GREAT STUFF HAPPENING IN “ELECTION RESULTS & DISCUSSION” (ERD) FORUM:

VOTING RIGHTS & ELECTION FRAUD ARE THE “NEXT BIG THING” AFTER DSM AND RoveGATE. CHECK IT OUT!!!

The Crisis papers: GOP Certain to Win in 2006 Unless… DU ERD Poster At Liberty

“Nothing less will budge the GOP from the White House and the Congress. After all, their “private sector” supporters count and compile the votes with secret software – and do so with no official independent means of validation. These facts about voting in the United States are publicly known and undisputed. And yet, despite compelling and unrefuted evidence of voting fraud, no one, except some determined citizen groups and a small minority of members of Congress, appear to be bothered enough to take action.”

Highly Irregular by Matt Tiabbi (Ohio Election Story is Coming Back!)
DU ERD Poster Terre

“I can only speak for myself, but I think that as a result of all of this, I was inclined to dismiss as a waste of time any discussion of what happened in Ohio. The story wasn't going anywhere. Even if there was evidence of wrongdoing, how could it possibly be more incontrovertible than the evidence in Florida? And given that nothing happened when Bush stole the election in front of the entire world in Florida, why bother making a fuss now in Ohio—especially since John Kerry was clearly many millions of votes less of a victim than Al Gore?

Well, I don't think that way anymore.”

The Unanswered Question: Who Really Won in 2004 DU ERD Poster TruthIsAll’s Ground Breaking Analysis & article by DU ERD Poster autorank as it appeared in "Scoop" Independent News this month

“According to the vote tabulators, in the 2004 presidential election George W. Bush won a stunning victory that defied all odds, particularly those applied by unbiased statisticians. He won despite trailing in most state and national polls. He won despite an approval rating of less than 50%, usually the death knell for an incumbent presidential candidate. He won despite trailing in the three National Exit Polls three timelines from 4pm to 12:22 am (13047 respondents) by a steady 48%-51%, miraculously winning the final exit poll (with only 613 additional respondents, totaling 13,660). This poll was “weighted” (altered) to meet the reported election result on the assumption that the reported result was accurate -- quite an assumption. The final poll showed a stunning reversal of the Kerry 51%-48% poll margin, which had been measured consistently all day by the same polling group: major news/networks and polling firm Edison-Mitofsky.”

1. reminds me of a Tom Waits song
"Step Right Up"

Step right up
step right up
step right up
Everyone's a winner, bargains galore
That's right, you too can be the proud owner
Of the quality goes in before the name goes on
One-tenth of a dollar

You need perfume? we got perfume
how 'bout an engagement ring?
Something for the little lady
something for the little lady
Something for the little lady, hmm
Three for a dollar
We got a year-end clearance, we got a white sale
And a smoke-damaged furniture
you can drive it away today
Act now, act now
and receive as our gift, our gift to you
They come in all colors, one size fits all
No muss, no fuss, no spills
you're tired of kitchen drudgery
Everything must go
going out of business
going out of business
Going out of business sale
Fifty percent off original retail price
skip the middle man
Don't settle for less
How do we do it?
how do we do it?
volume, volume, turn up the volume
Now you've heard it advertised, don't hesitate
Don't be caught with your drawers down
Don't be caught with your drawers down
You can step right up, step right up

That's right, it filets, it chops
It dices, slices, never stops
lasts a lifetime, mows your lawn
And it mows your lawn

It gets rid of unwanted facial hair
it gets rid of embarrassing age spots
It delivers a pizza
and it lengthens, and it strengthens
And it finds that slipper that's been at large
under the chaise longe for several weeks
And it plays a mean Rhythm Master
It makes excuses for unwanted lipstick on your collar
And it's only a dollar, step right up
it's only a dollar, step right up

'Cause it forges your signature.
If not completely satisfied
mail back unused portion of product
For complete refund of price of purchase
Step right up
Please allow thirty days for delivery
don't be fooled by cheap imitations
You can live in it, live in it

Swim in it, sleep in it
Live in it, swim in it

Removes embarrassing stains from contour sheets
that's right
And it entertains visiting relatives
it turns a sandwich into a banquet
Tired of being the life of the party?
Change your shorts

Change into a nine-year-old Hindu boy

Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 10:20 AM by IndyOp
Thank you AUTORANK - Great post!

The front cover of Harper's August issue features Mark Crispin Miller's article:

NONE DARE CALL IT STOLEN
Ohio, the Election, and America's Servile Press

The final paragraph:

"In this nation's epic struggle on behalf of freedom, reason, and democracy, the press has unilaterally disarmed - and therefore many good Americans, both liberal and conservative, have lost faith in the promise of self-government. That vast surrender is demoralizing, certainly, but if we face it, it will not prove fatal. This democracy can survive a plot to hijack an election. What it cannot survive is our indifference to, or unawareness of, the evidence that such a plot has succeeded."

Now all we DU'ers have to do is make a few 100,000 copies of the article and send them to media, friends, family, and (s)elected officials.

We also need bumper stickers, T-shirts, mugs, and a "NONE DARE CALL IT STOLEN" website.

There is too much TRUTH out now to bury the facts: 2004 was stolen; 2002 GA Senate (at least) was stolen; 2000 FL was stolen.

The results of the theft are devastating: $300 billion wasted in Iraq; thousands of lives lost; devastation of our good will overseas (impeding our ability to fight terror); undue stress and harm to the US Army; a near-dictatorship of corporations and government--all owing the industrious to steal everything that's not nailed down.

You're right! We need investigations, public awareness, and corrective action SOON.

18. Whatever happened to the paper receipt for voting machines?
Is Rush Holt's bill still in committee?

Until we get a paper trail and a method of randomly or systematically recounting the votes, quite a few people, myself included, will not trust any future election results.

It's amazing to me that Republicans continue to block this. I guess they don't want free and fair elections (he said naively).

28. It would only take one national figure to start the debate..it must happen
Or we're screwed in 2006. These Republicans have a great thing going. As Representative King said "We've taken care of that. We're counting the votes." He was probably a little loaded at the time but he spoke the truth. They don't care about anything but winning.

Voting rights is an issue of universal appeal. That's why we have a Voting Rights Act.

Lets see who belly's up to the bar and stands tall for democracy.

(looking for a donation, of course) and we got to talking. I asked him to pass along my message about going on TV and challenging the Republicans. 65. Welcome to DU, FrankLee!
:toast:

You are absolutely correct in saying that we need paper and we need automatic audits if we are using machines to record and/or count the votes.

As far as 'paper trail' - It is important to distinguish that from a paper ballot or even record. It seems like petty semantics but it makes a big difference legally.

The paper should be the official ballot of record - it should be the final word of the voter's intentions. That way if the tabulation or DRE machines fail (as if that would ever happen ;) ) there is still a reliable ballot.
A 'paper trail' or 'receipt' could mean just about anything, and the paper wouldn't necessarily have any legal standing as a record of the voter's intentions.

The general term of consensus seems to be Voter Verified Paper Ballot or VVPB because it sort of covers all the bases.

I hope that didn't sound nitpicky or anything - we are a little obsessed with definitions here sometimes. It helps us argue more effectively with each other :)

41. So true...we will be heard...from Cassandra's to the new Vanguard!
It's so simple. The Jesuit scholars would understand the logic and laugh at those who can't. It's so simiple: If A then B; A; therefor B.
If you have (A) stolen elections then you get B BushWorld; we have stolen elections (A); therefore, we've got the screaming bummer of (B) BushWorld.

How hard is it to understand. We all get it. When will the party wake up to what the grassroots knows and is already acting on. Look at Arcata, CA. They have real voting rights. Why can't everybody (how do you like that one GuvWorld!!!).

I really believe this- progress was being made- Gore would have followed up on the Clarke recommendations etc.
we would be living in a very different world- not perfect but Terrorism wold not be growing as fast, and the world would be more in tune in an attempt to stop it on many levels.

52. Exactly
I was listening to a radio program (It might've been Malloy) not long ago and the person who called in was talking about how if Gore was president 9/11 would've NEVER happened and the economy would've been booming because he would've made more jobs with security with airports, the boarders, ports etc. He was already working on everything with Clinton anyways and he knew the plans and had involvement I'm sure. So if Gore was president none of this would've happened in the first place. I always wonder "what if...."

50. Isn't it though...he went from a doubter to a believer.
Maybe we can get him over here to do some posting or commentary (or maybe he's here already...haha).

I hope things continue in that direction with other members of the inner circle of semi-independent media.

69. That's so good to hear
It really is. This isn't just a wishful-thinking-conspiracy-theory kinda thing, some shady stuff went down and regardless of the election's outcome it is imperative that we don't let it happen again, and again and again, because we know it won't stop unless we make it impossible.

Here's to Election Reform!

And his introduction was good to show others as well. Whatever he was told must've changed his mind. I saw him on the Daily show and from what he said on there he was betting on a Bush win and he wasn't a fan of Kerry.

58. This is really gaining momentum again...
There was a great editorial in Ann Arbor News Wednesday too...

How can Americans force the majority party to enforce the law?

"Have you registered to vote?'' I asked a friend of mine.
"No, my vote doesn't count anyway.''

Unfortunately, this is true. You may register and even vote, but it's now true that your vote may not count and this is the No. 1 reason why we need election reform. There have been numerous bills introduced to modify the Help America Vote Act. One of these is called S450, the "Count Every Vote Act.'' It was introduced by Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York, Barbara Boxer of California, John Kerry of Massachusetts, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and Barbara Mikulski of Maryland and addresses specific problems that come to light in "What Went Wrong in Ohio, The Conyers Report on the 2004 Presidential Election,'' edited by Anita Miller. But I believe there is something even more important this country needs. Citizens must have the right to challenge decisions made by the majority party through citizen participation in petition drives and ballot initiatives at the federal level.

Let's look at the context in which election reform has gained grassroots support. Every recommended change to the Help America Vote Act is a direct result of actual cases of electoral irregularities in Ohio in 2004 and Florida in 2000, two battleground states in the presidential election. Although there have been numerous bills introduced to address the Ohio irregularities, I will look at only two key provisions of the Count Every Vote Act, introduced in the Senate on Feb. 17, and trace it back to the Ohio event that prompted the creation of the law. The full text is available at http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.html. For the record, proposed legislation is locked up in committee by the majority party, and not likely to receive a full and fair discussion so long as the Republican Party is in power. Furthermore, the majority need not provide any rationale for their refusal to provide a full airing of these bills. All they need to do is support the status quo by doing nothing.

The first key provision is for a "voter-verified paper or hard-copy record of each vote.'' Why has this provision been proposed? According to the testimony presented in "What Went Wrong in Ohio,'' this provision is a result of the Triad Corp.'s involvement in providing "cheat sheets,'' essentially a method to calibrate the machines so they match the hand count to prevent the need for a full hand count provided by law. Triad and its affiliates, the leading suppliers of voting machines that count paper and punch card ballots in Ohio and Florida, is controlled by Brett A. Rapp, a consistent contributor to Republican causes. Psephos Corp., one Triad affiliate, supplied the notorious butterfly ballot used in Florida's Palm Beach County in the 2000 presidential election. In addition, representatives of Triad admitted to altering tabulating software in Ohio's Hocking, Lorain, Muskingum, Clark, Harrison and Guernsey counties. The report states that these actions were in violation of state and federal laws, yet nothing was done to enforce the laws.

One of the recommendations of the Conyers report was for further congressional hearings. The reports states: "the only means of obtaining Mr. Blackwell's cooperation in any congressional investigation is under threat of subpoena, which only the majority may require.'' What good does it do to say we are a nation of laws if the majority party chooses not to enforce them? The most shocking aspect of both the 2000 and 2004 elections is not the numerous inconsistencies or irregularities; you expect those to happen when an elected official is an officer in a candidate's election committee. It is rather that there is no constitutional or legal mechanism whereby ordinary citizens can rise up against the tyranny of the majority party and compel them to enforce existing laws by collecting signatures on a petition or a ballot initiative demanding that the majority party enforce our laws.

59. I think once the Am people realize the extent of the deceit thru ROVEGATE
they will be willing to look at our evidence on the election theft. this will be the time to push our fair and transparent election reform. the only ones who don't want our votes to count are those in power.

63. You're right - it is a scary can-o-worms for most people to open
but it is getting more and more obvious and people can't deny it:

This administration is ABSOLUTELY CORRUPT. They will stop at NOTHING to further their agenda, and their power is so widespread in all areas of gov't and industry that there is is very little that the American people can do to stop it.

Which means we all must work together and do whatever it takes to end this cycle. We are getting closer to that point. I truly believe that.

it would be good to put this up as a separate thread

I'm curious about what Diebold calls their "parallel monitoring" which they tout as one of their safety procedures. Their technicians actually remove and check a certain number of Diebold Systems DURING the voting process (!?) .... :eyes:
