Let's face it a better election system leads to better officials, and better officials leads to better policies. And none of this stuff is going to originate on the Hill under **

We tried again to get instant runoff voting here in Maine but the price tag didn't go over well. **'s desctruction of the economy can be thanked for that.

I spoke once to our election official in my tiny town about IRV. She had never even heard of it. I am going to try talking with her again.

1. IRV is seriously flawed, CSSD is much better
Proportional representation for legislatures would also make a great deal of sense, and there are scientific methods for arranging that, e.g. STV (Single Transferable Vote) beyond just party list representation.

CSSD is Cloneproof Schwarz Sequential Dropping, also known as "beatpath" or Schulze's method. Ranked Pairs (RP) is comparable.

Look at wikipedia's voting theory page for a starting point from which you can find more information about what kinds of voting methods there are.
