Toon/New Meme "Conflict Oil" -- As In, Get Rich Investing In Conflict Oil!
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 03:06 PM by DistressedAmerican
I think this is a new term that we could stand to start spreading around - CONFLICT OIL

I hear a lot about "conflict diamonds", "conflict gold" even "conflict ivory". Basically these are pillaged commodities that are for sale around the world and whose sale and profit go to fuel war and enrich those waging it.

Clearly oil is a commodity that is sold around the world and whose sale fuels war and enriches its practitioners.

So, I hereby propose that we let people know that they are filling their tanks with CONFLICT OIL. Remind them where it comes from and who it enriches.

Just a little reading:

Oil Stocks Pump It Up
Big oil companies, flush with cash from soaring oil prices, continue to attract conservative investors.

May 2005

OIL PRICES HAVE had a terrific run-up over the past year, reason enough to wonder whether it’s too late to hook a ride with oil-company stocks. If you already own such stocks, you may be concerned that the party is nearly over. Our view: It’s not too late to buy into the oil boom, and there’s no rush to sell. The world is still guzzling nearly all the oil pumped out of the ground, which will underpin the commodity’s high price for years to come......

And A New Graphic:

1. Oh well, time to sell
When you see articles like this, it means the real stake-holders are about to dump all their stocks in these industries and they are going to squeeze just a little more out of them by getting others to buy in at the last minute with this sort of media pump-coverage.

Check out my sig... it shows how well the oil and defense companies have done since the War in Iraq.

There may be a month or two of gains left (maybe a few more percent) before the administration officials dump all their stocks.

If anyone has any doubts about the reasons for the war, just show them the image in my sig. GREED.

2. Get out of oil and invest in obesity
With all the news about obesity concerns lately, I bought soome nutri-system (NTRI) shares last week, and if my etrade account hasn't gone haywire, it looks like it is up 32% in ONE day. Much better than oil is doing.
