CAFTA vote shows why DLC has got to GO
15 votes. If those democrats who voted for CAFTA had gone the other way or even not voted, CAFTA wouldn't have passed.

This is why we need PROGRESSIVE Democrats in congress, not just corporate whores wearing our team's jersey.

1. 3 out of 15 were DLC
We need progressive Democrats in the Congress, I agree, but attack who needs to be attacked, and these is these 15 dems specifically.

3. The DLC organization was pushing hard for this
The fact that many of their members rejected their recommended stance is a good sign that the organization is not beyond help.

5. I'm thinking it's a sign that the DLC is in decline
When their own members aren't listening to their policy recommendations anymore I would say that's a good sign that their loosing power and influence in the democratic party.

12. No, they only expose the required members. They'll switch
on something else later.

Did you check how many were Blue Dogs? I didn't see the usual suspects, off the top of my head. But maybe that's what happened.

11. Nope
Just Cooper and Tanner. But some of those names are names I recognize from the bankruptcy and/or energy bills, Cuellar, Hinojosa, Meeks, Skelton, Ortiz. I'm still suspecting some of it has to do with the district. We either need to help them educate their districts, or explain their districts to the rest of the party.

2. I don't disagree with you that they should have voted no, but why
are you blaming it on the DLC?

I checked the list of Yes Dems and didn't recognize any of them so I don't know.

8. About the DLC and globalization, it goes back to the mid90's
http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?contentid=762&kaid=108&subid=235
I won't repeat any of that article but there is a statement by the DLC about its orientation to globalization.

By 2008 it is likely that protectionism and nationalism will be so important as to make the DLC embarrassed by this.
