6. I too have a real concern about Pat Roberts' "hearings"

Pre-emptive immunity in exchange for testimony just like they did for the Iran-Contra felons. I believe Judge Roberts was involved in that criminal enterprise as well.

They're vile and underhanded, to wit, Senator Roberts supposedly holding hearings on the progress of the Fitzgerald investigation.

Before I responded I checked to see which DC area grand jury Fitzgerald was using.

If you want to really nail someone and move at break-neck speed for any court system, you'd use the Eastern District, Virginia. That district is famous for speed and efficiency. It may or may not be a liberal panel.

If you want to really nail a the "powerful" or a nasty Republican and move at a speed of your choice, you'd use the District of Columbia grand jury.

Here's what Matt Cooper, reporter who gave up his sources, said:
"Grand juries are in the business of handing out indictments, and their docility is infamous. A grand jury, the old maxim goes, will indict a ham sandwich if a prosecutor asks it of them. But I didn't get that sense from this group of grand jurors. They somewhat reflected the demographics of the District of Columbia. The majority were African American and were disproportionately women. ... These grand jurors did not seem the types to passively indict a ham sandwich. I would say one-third of my 2 1/2 hours of testimony was spent answering their questions, not the prosecutor's, although he posed them on their behalf. I began to take notes but then was told I had to stop, so I'm reliant on memory."

We'll see. I think that this is a motivated group led by a highly motivated prosecutor. Time is of the essence, unless he's going after Bush or Cheney, in which case, he must have all details in place.

Wouldn't it be funny if he was able to get Judith Miller's testimony from a jail house snitch at the Alexandria Womens Correctional Facility.

If you remember the Starr investigation, he leaked daily to the press. Fitzgerald is pursuing this matter in the appropriate way. It's not as satisfying for those of us who want to see justice served right away, but I trust and hope that it will be in due time. I'm expecting indictments this fall sometime.
