The Repubs have started the '06 campaign already...
Reportedly, they are going after Paul Hackett in the next few days because of what he said about George Bush. I don't have the quote but I understand it was not complimentary. :) Also, it is reported that they are going after Robert Byrd in WV...

Of course, we knew they were in '06 campaign mode when they came out a few weeks ago with "news" that the deficit was much lower than expected and their policy of lower taxes equals more revenues was finally working as expected. Rush and the dittoheads of talk radio megaphoned the news all over the country for a day or two. Of course, there were external reasons the deficit went down, that they did not mention. Such as letting one of the corporate tax cuts expire and bringing in a one-time more revenue for election time to make it look like the Repubs are "fiscally responsible" when in fact, they are recklessly irresponsible. But, they will be able to fool enough of their voters for the '06 election to maintain control, they figure.

1. The question is, why haven't the dems?
They are out there with their right wing talking points and one-liner messages. Where the heck are the dems?

2. Yea, he called Shrub a Chicken Hawk. I saw him on Tweety's show
last night. Tweety asked him what a chicken hawk was. He said it's someone who never had the courage to serve his country in a was during his generation of eligibility, but was willing to send everyone else to fight and die.

It was a good interview, and Hackett did a great job. The election is Aug 2nd, so I'm really rooting for Hackett!!! There's another thread here on DU that is requesting donations to him, and I guess he's gotten $300,000+ just in the last few days.

Lets HOPE he wins!

3. The Republicans are always campaigning
Everything they do is done with an eye toward the next election.

Not much time to actually 'govern' due to that practice, but simply ripping off tax money and handing it to your cronies isn't really 'governing' anyway. Somehow they find the time...

4. Really, they need to. After CAFTA, DSM, Plamegate, Gannon,
corporate favors at the expense of working Americans, they need to campaign early and hard. I hope they spend all the money they can in a losing cause.
