<snip>Musharraf survived two al Qaeda inspired assassination attempts in December 2003 and is widely expected to retain the presidency after elections in 2007.

Maybe that is because Musharraf is the only dictator allowed to run for president in Pakistan?

5. We should be glad Musharraf is still the head of Pakistan
If he were not, if he was assassinated for example, that country's government would turn Islamic Fundamentalist in a heartbeat!

Bin Laden polls positively with the people on the street over there for goodness sakes!

6. Oh, yes. We must protect ourselves against the heathens
Even if that means keeping a brutal, tin pot dictator in power.

Hey, haven't we tried this before in Iraq and Iran? Why yes we did. Didn't turn out too good in the long run either.

Did it?
