Education sought...when we say Bengal as in Bengal tiger...
does that refer to Bangladesh or another region/country?

2. It's like this
East Bengal is now called Bangladesh, whilst West Bengal is still in India. West Bengal containst Calcutta, or Kolkata as it is now spelt.

It was split up by the British. Originally Bangladesh was part of Pakistan, but then they won independence and now it's an independent nation.

Bangladesh is mostly muslim, whilst West Bengal is mostly hindu.

3. Bangladesh and some parts of India.
East Bengal is now Bangladesh. West Bengal is a part of India. You'll have to look up the tiger's range yourself.

4. It refers to undivided Bengal of the colonial times
i.e. before 1947. The tigers is found in West bengal in an area called the Sunderbans to the (far) South of Calcutta/Kolkata

5. Quite right. I should have added the pre-1947 bit.
I understand that the tigers, sadly, face extinction.
