Does the Frist flip flop damage his presidential ambitions?
I must say that it does. The true believers who vote in the Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina caucus and primaries are adamantly opposed to stem cell research in any form. These people would be content to let a relative suffer or die even in the face of stem cell research that could save them.

Even if he did somehow get the nomination, he would be vulnerable to the charge that he is a flip flopper.

3. Agreed
He probably did the GOP a favor by flip-flop-flipping on this issue.

The only good side of him running for President is that he won't be a Senator anymore!

2. Gawd!
Let's hope it does (altho it's mighty human of him to support it, I'm surprised).

5. it isn't stem cells......
People who are 'opposed' to stem cell research aren't opposed to the idea of saving lives. They are opposed to the growth of embryos, living human embryos, in laboratories which are then killed to obtain stem cells. If the embryos were implanted and allowed to develop they would grow into a person. (Oh no!!! The abortion debate!!!)

I ain't goin' there. But it isn't stem cells they are opposed to. It is the same thing as abortion to them.

I have never met anyone who opposed the research of established stem cell lines. If I did, I would call them a fool.
