A Peaceful, Democratic Iraq becomes Western Iran, BUT…
an insurgent Iraq with a perpetual, low-level civil war justifies a perpetual US military presence.

A huge explosives cache was left unguarded immediately after our occupation. Also shortly after the occupation, the UN was chased away with a huge explosion that killed the chief envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello. Now, the representatives of the Shia Majority are being killed while a shadowy al Qaeda presence is maintained led by an even more shadowy al-Zarqawi.

And the explanation for all this? Poor post-war planning, yes our old friend incompetence. The same reason that attempts to stop the terrorists prior to 9-11 were actively opposed by Ashcroft’s Justice Dept. The very same reason the CIA got the pre-invasion intelligence on Iraq so wrong.

I’m sorry, but I see a plan. In the long run, it will undoubtedly prove to be an insane, incompetent plan, but it is a plan. That only question is "Whose Plan?" - who benefits? Who wants us perpetually in the region in control of a divided Iraq?
