August 1: Vt. GOP wants Dean to open records
By Ross Sneyd

MONTPELIER The head of the state Republican Party called on former Gov. Howard Dean Thursday to open all of his gubernatorial records, including those he insisted be sealed for a decade.

A little more than half of the thousands of records Dean accumulated during his nearly 12 years as governor are available to public scrutiny. The rest have been sealed and will not be opened until 2013, 10 years after Dean's tenure ended.

Republicans say it appears that Dean must have something to hide if he's unwilling to let the public examine the records.

"If Howard Dean plans to run on his record in Vermont, he needs to share that record with the public," Vermont Re publican Chairman Jim Barnett said. "The American people should not just have to take his word for it."

1. The proper response from the Dean campaign
As soon as Lil George pulls his papers from his time as Texas governor currently illegally stored in his daddy's archive at Texas A&M, and releases the records from the Reagan administration that the law says he's supposed to release, I'll be happy to comply with this voluntary provision.

5. No link, but
I seem to recall reading that most of what is in there is correpondence from during the time of the battle over the civil unions bill. A lot of it is from gay constituents and there is a wish to protect their privacy.

7. The Democratic Establishment *has* to be frustrated.
Gephardt and Kerry are struggling with Dean, and Clark enters and only puts a small dent in Dean's support. Meanwhile, the bat is on fire! WooHoo!

I know the anti-Dean people are frustrated, but remember, we're all on the same team here.

14. NH and Iowa are where it counts.
By your logic, Lieberman was the frontrunner before Clark entered.
